Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Bilingual Phlebotomist who is proficient in performing venipunctures independently from day one. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of recent phlebotomy experience and be fluent in both Spanish and English. Strong communication skills and reliability are essential for this role.
Responsibilities
Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.Decontaminate and update patient information as needed.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Clearly explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods to patients.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by the test order.Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.Place samples in appropriate collection containers or tubes, accurately label them, and follow necessary procedures to maintain specimen integrity.Essential Skills
Minimum of 2 years of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.Proficiency with straight needles and the ability to perform venipunctures independently.Strong communication skills and reliability.Fluency in Spanish and English.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.Work Environment
The position operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, with every other Saturday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm at an alternate location. The role requires working in a fast-paced lab environment, adhering to protocols to ensure specimen integrity.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bronx, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
