Job Summary
The Billing and Collections Team Lead is responsible to oversee and assist Billing and Collections Specialists to ensure team processes are followed and assignments are completed in a timely manner. Assist leadership in assuring confidentiality is maintained and HIPAA compliance is adhered to.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:
Complete required QA spot checks per week and provide feedback to staff; Collaborate with Management and the QA Department to identify training needs within departmentAnswer questions, provide support, assistance, and direction to team members as neededRelay updates and process changes to teammates when identified and maintain current processes and procedures regarding specific insurance billing informationReview aging reports to identify accounts not being worked timely, trends in unpaid/underpaid claims, and resolve or escalate appropriatelyAssist staff with system issues by resolving and/or submitting new tickets to Information Technology DepartmentSelect, develop, determine and maintain teaching aids using audits tools. Report training opportunities to ManagementProvide accurate and comprehensive training for new teammates, existing teammates, and cross-functional effortsReview staff productivity, track team’s daily statistics, and facilitate the work flow to ensure completion of assignmentsComplete assigned adjustments, reports, and account assignmentsReview collector appeals for accuracy and thoroughness before submission to payorsReview payor bulletins and newsletters for changes that may impact cash flowOther duties as assignedAdditional Job Requirements

Education & Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and five to eight years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceAssociate’s degree (A.A./A.S.) from two-year college or technical school; preferred1-2 years leadership/training experience; preferred Billing and Collections experience; requiredKnowledge of all Government, Commercial, and Private payers; preferredKnowledge of medical and billing terminology; requiredKnowledge of federal and state rules and regulations regarding HIPAA, collections, filing insurance claims, and filing for reimbursement from federal health care programs; requiredKnowledge of account reimbursement and receivables managementSkills
