Billing Operations Specialist

The Billing & Collections Specialist is a critical role on the Finance Shared Services team. We are seeking candidates with previous experience in handling billing and collections for our Peerless Network customers. Persistence, flexibility, resilience, and strong data analytic skills are key in this position.

More about what you’ll be doing:

Communicate and coordinate with internal stakeholders & teams – Finance, Credit Risk, Internal Audit, Sales, etc. to provide the best possible solutions for a client’s billing model.

Support new business models by incorporating them into our billing system.

Reconcile discrepancies on accounts and proactively correct any issues.

Develop and maintain internal controls with the Finance team (revenues, client balances, etc.).

As needed, monitor automatic billing and perform manual billing that has specific requirements.

Prepare reports to monitor and control manual invoicing – ultimately transferring it to automatic billing.

Detect and analyze revenue leakages by comparing invoices and billing logs (aligning and reconciling a client’s balance).

Be involved with projects to help develop tools and make process improvements.

Support other teams with reports and statistics related to revenue, invoicing, billed/unbilled services.

Reach out to customers regarding their payments via email, phone, etc.

Track disputes and provide feedback on collectable items vs. items in dispute.

Your Qualifications:

Must be highly proficient (Expert-level) in Excel (formulas, VLOOKUP, charts, pivot tables, etc.) and Word.  Experience using PowerPoint is a plus.

Proven ability and skills in establishing DSOs and creating reports for outstanding payments, using data to present to management/leadership.

Must have experience in Data Analytics – know how to compile and analyze data with the ability to summarize and support the information presented.

Understands billing concept and practices per U.S. standards. Knowledge of collection best practices and experience with dunning processes with the ability to implement them across the organization.

Excellent communication skills – interpersonal, written, and verbal.

Exceptional customer relations skills.  Is not afraid of conflict or leading difficult conversations. Is persistent and able to continuously follow up on delinquent payments.

Team player, able to work collaboratively with others. Experience working with Shared Services teams a plus.

Be a utility player with the ability to juggle priorities with ease. Agile with shifting priorities.

Strong process implementation skills.

Is independent and maintains a high degree of accountability in your work.

Creative problem-solving skills with the ability to identify problems quickly and resolve them in a timely manner.

Attention to detail is highly important in this role!  The ability to find inconsistencies comes naturally to you.

Strong working knowledge of Dynamics 365, Billing Platform, Great Plains.

Experience with U.S. telecom practices for billing and service level agreements (SLAs) is a plus.

Experience in Forensic Accounting or served in a role as a Forensic Accountant is highly desirable.

Additional Information:

Salary Range: $75,000 to $80,000 annually with eligibility for an annual bonus based on both individual and company performance. The salary of the selected candidate will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, experience, education, skillset, and internal equity.
