What You'll Do:

This position will work in a collaborative Patient Billing Department, where patient bills for hospital, clinic, Long Term Care and Home Health are processed. This role will work primarily with hospital and clinic billing - which includes insurance claim filing and follow up.

What's Available:

Full-Time working 40 hours per week (1.0 FTE).

Day shift, no weekends, and no holidays required.

Pay range is $18.31 - $26.03/ hour, based on your years of experience.

Job Description:

Basic Function: Verify accuracy of claims/bills. Files insurance claims for patients and residents.  Perform follow-up on accounts with other departments, patients, or residents, or the insurance companies, as needed.  Ensures proper, adequate and timeline billing to ensure prompt payment.

Major Responsibilities

- Verifies accuracy of claims/bills.

- Files claims/bills to appropriate payer.

- Communicates with patients and practitioners regarding financial responsibility and insurance coverage issues.

- Reviews remittance advices to verify proper reimbursement.

- Assist co-workers on overflow work and provides backup when needed.

- Maintains detailed documentation in the patient account record of all billing activities.

- Maintains documentation of claims processed as part of the daily claim’s reconciliation process.

- Prepares and completes claims for commercial insurance companies, third party organizations and/or government or self-payers.

- Researches, analyzes and reconciles Medicare/Medicaid billing and reimbursement practices.

- Maintains detailed documentation in the patient account record of all billing activities.

- Maintains documentation of claims processed as part of the daily claim’s reconciliation process.

- Consults with appropriate parties to resolve unbilled claims. Reviews recent accounts for proper billing practices and reimbursement.

- Adheres to regular and predictable attendance.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements/Demands of The Position:

Frequent sitting. 

Occasional push/pull, stand, walk, reach horizontally, bend/stoop.

Lift/carry up to 10 pounds. 

Hand functions: Simple and firm grasp, fine manipulation, feel (size, shape, temperature, texture). 

Near and far hearing and visual acuity.
