Position Summary: Northeastern Nevada Physician Practices is seeking a friendly, motivated, Billing Specialist to join a well-established practice.  This is a full-time benefited position, working Monday – Friday 8-hour shifts. The Billing Specialist sends bills and works to ensure timely payment of patient accounts. The employee follows up with insurance companies and performs a variety of duties related to processing claims. Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities. 

Additional responsibilities include:

Works with front office staff to train them how to work and complete claim holds and ensures they know any updates that pertain to them Bills patients and third-party payers accordingly. Additionally, stays informed about changes in Medicare and Medicaid and maintains knowledge of various insurance carriers’ deductibles and co-payments and what procedures are covered under their specific plans.Makes patient phone calls and provides explanations regarding statements, insurance coverage while treating patients/families with respect and ensuring confidentiality of patient records Compiles hospital bills, completes appropriate forms, submits claims to proper agencies/insurance companies Contacts patients/insurance companies to collect unpaid insurance claimsMaintains workers comp files and submits first report in a timely mannerCommunicates with HIM department regarding proper maintenance of ICD-9 and CPT codes with modifiers

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred

Experience: Two years of office experience preferred

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days of hire
