This position independently performs varied billing operations and office responsibilities. The
areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, fiscal, information system, and office
management.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Responsible for all aspects of billing, accounts receivable and related documentation. Ensures the compilation and submission of Home Care and Hospice billing within a designated timeframe. This includes both electronic and hard copy billing.
2. Verifies accurate patient Home Health and Hospice coverage.
3. Prepares appropriate internal reports to assure accuracy and control of data.
4. Participates in meetings to discuss billing issues and assists in problem resolution with all Agency departments.
5. Assists patients/families when needed to clarify insurance questions and establish payment plans.
6. Manages all aspects of Hospice billing, including submitting NOEs, DME, and Pharmacy information.
7. Responsible for understanding billing clearinghouse operations, including remittance retrieval, denial and appeals management.
8. Responsible for accurate application of cash payments.
9. Responsible for account collection efforts.
Medium Work: Involves exerting 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or an amount greater than negligible and up to 10 pounds constantly to move
objects. Constantly standing and walking.
EDUCATION:
Diploma from Business College or an Associates Degree in Accounting and Finance Data
Processing or the experience required and demonstration of the ability to fulfill the duties listed.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Two years billing experience in a medical field preferred.
