Job DescriptionWorks under general supervision.Provides training and technical support to design staff on the Building Information Modeling system, which provides 3D models using project specifications and content.Directs project support and production for assigned projects and creates drawings as required using standards and content to meet job requirements (objects within the drawing, doors, lights, etc.).Develops and maintains HVAC system models within the BIM environment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications.Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate HVAC designs with other building systems (e.g., structural, electrical, plumbing).Performs clash detection and resolution within the BIM model to identify and address potential conflicts between HVAC and other building systems.Generates quantity take-offs and equipment schedules from the BIM model to support cost estimation and procurement processes.Ensures BIM models adhere to company standards, industry best practices, and client requirements.Participates in project meetings to discuss design progress, challenges, and solutions related to HVAC systems.Assists in developing and maintaining BIM content libraries specific to HVAC components and systems.Contributes to the continuous improvement of BIM processes and workflows within the organization.Stays current with the latest BIM software updates, HVAC industry trends, and energy efficiency standards to enhance project deliverables.

Qualifications

 

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Master's degree preferred.Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in HVAC design and BIM implementation.Proficient in using calculation data for modeling/drafting ducting and chilled water piping systems.Advanced skills in Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks, with the ability to create and manage complex BIM models.Working knowledge of other 2D & 3D modeling and drafting software, as well as review software, is advantageous.Strong understanding of HVAC systems, including load calculations, equipment selection, and energy efficiency principles.Familiarity with industry standards and codes such as ASHRAE, LEED, and local building regulations.Experience in clash detection and resolution within BIM environments.Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.Proven ability to manage time efficiently and meet project deadlines.Certification in BIM software (e.g., Autodesk Certified Professional) is a plus.Knowledge of sustainable design practices and energy modeling software is desirable.
