**Job Description**
This position will be responsible for production operations in the Bi-Metal hardening and tempering as well as unpacking and straightening area for Power Tool Accessories. This is an interchangeable position where the operator with rotate between the unpacking/inspection station and the straightening machine as well as the heat treat ovens. This function will directly be involved with safety, quality, and daily production tasks, in addition to providing some technical support, as needed.
**Primary Duties and Accountabilities**
**Machine operation (Heat Treat Ovens)** – Including but not limited to:
Select correct programming on each furnace to run various part types, identify correct fixturing for each part type, inspect tooling for excessive wear, load/unload heat treat fixtures using cranes and load/unload the furnaces using power lifters, move material around within the area as needed, acknowledge basic machine alarms and react accordingly, complete production quality checks and various paperwork per routings, fulfill correct orders in accordance with FIFO system.
**Unpacking, Sorting, and Inspection Operation** – Including but not limited to:
Select correct parts to unload from heat treat FIFO, unpack handfuls of blades from heat treat magazines, ensure separation of individual blades (force impact on table as needed), use basic hand gages, and visually inspect parts for excessive distortion from heat treatment. Must make determinations and sort parts according to the potential defects found. Complete production paperwork documentation as needed. Read and understand process documentation along with applicable standards and specification.
**Straightening Machine Operation** – Including but not limited to:
Select correct programming for the corresponding part type, load/unload the machine using the correct blade orientation (both manual and automatic loading/unloading will be used). Use basic hand gauges to ensure quality. Complete production paperwork documentation as needed and understand process documentation along with applicable standards and specification. Fulfill correct orders in accordance with FIFO system.
**Troubleshooting / Support** – Support group leaders, engineers, and maintenance technicians in troubleshooting and improvement activities within the cell. A solid understanding of the equipment/process and basic critical thinking skills will be required.
**5S and FIFO** – Participate in 5S initiatives and take responsibility for cleanliness of the area (wiping down equipment, sweeping/moping, etc.) and organization of material handling devices and tools. Perform weekly autonomous maintenance. Read and interpret shop routings, Kanban cards (hot lists) and ensure adequate flow of material through the cell and production process (FIFO).
**Training** – Assist team leaders in the training of new operators and help ensure compliance to quality and safety guidelines. Read and understand training documents and communicate requirements with other employees.
**Qualifications**
+ Ability to read and comprehend technical drawings, instructions, and documentation
+ Ability to operate machinery and understand manufacturing operational techniques
+ General computer knowledge and software navigation ability
+ Previous experience with equipment / tooling setups
+ Technical experience in machine or equipment navigation / troubleshooting
+ Experience in FIFO and process flow as related to a production process
+ Ability to multitask and work in a cross functional team environment
+ Adherence to safety absolutes and understanding of basic production and quality standards
+ Ability to stand and be mobile for 8 hours
+ Ability to read and prepare orders
+ High understanding of machines and components
+ Computer and Software navigation ability
+ Ability to lift (up to) 40 lbs.
+ Math skills appropriate to a machining environment.
+ Able to read product prints and check product to match.
+ Proficient in the use of measuring devices such as Dial Indicators and Calipers.
+ Ability to safely use hand tools correctly.
+ Accredited HS Diploma or GED
