Bioinformatic Specialist

We are committed to equal employment opportunities that foster an inclusive environment.** The _Bioinformatician Data Analyst_ will be responsible for designing and developing bioinformatic tools, analysis pipelines and workflows to be included in Progenika/Grifols projects and products in the most effective way and with the best performance and quality. The candidate will have to manage, analyze and interpret large-scale datasets generated from experiments in the fields of genomics and molecular biology. Candidates with work experience in bioinformatics applied to biomedicine and genomics with background of R, Python and statistical analysis are especially encouraged to apply. This position requires a highly motivated person able to deal with new projects. **What your responsibilities will be** Working under the guidance and supervision of the project manager/leader: + Manage all bioinformatic aspects of a project. + Analyze data collected during research studies to draw conclusions. + Contribute to the analysis of research studies in collaboration with other scientists. + Design and develop NGS analysis pipelines and workflows according to project objectives. + Provide support to the project manager/leader in the elaboration of research proposals. + Convey research findings and data analysis results to the project manager/leader and to the group leader. + Research and apply new programs and/or procedures as needed. + Comply with all company policies and SOPs as well as regulatory requirements for the programming, analysis and reporting of research projects (e.g. FDA, CE-Mark etc.) The position requires strong analytical skills, in addition to creativity, independence and ability to work in a team in an industry environment. **Who you are** To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions). + You have a Master and/or Doctoral qualifications in Bioinformatics. + You have 2 years of experience working in NGS data analysis. + You possess comprehensive knowledge of bioinformatic software packages. + You have advanced English communication and writing skills and are able to work both independently and as part of a team. + You have experience in Linux and shell language. + Knowledge of programming languages (i.e. Bash, R, Python, Perl). + Knowledge of statistical analysis applied to prospective or retrospective epidemiological studies, association studies and correlation analysis. + Knowledge of bioinformatics tools for biomarker assay design and NGS data analysis. + Desirable experience in metagenomics and pathogen databases. + Desirable experience in machine learning tools (PCA, clustering, random forest, neural networks). + Desirable experience in specialized programs used to analyze statistics and lab results, such as SAS, JMP and SPSS. + Desirable knowledge of software development languages (Java and/or others). + Ability to work independently and within a collaborative research team, with good written and verbal communication skills and ability to comply with tight deadlines. **What we offer** It is a brilliant opportunity for you, Grifols is fully aware that its employees are one of its major assets.
