Job Description

Summary of the Job
The Applications & Systems (A&S) group in the Research & Innovation department of Veolia WTS is
looking for an intern in year 1 or year 2 of Bachelor in biology sciences (BSc).
The intern will be able to discover drinking water and wastewater treatment applications in the field
of MABR, MBR and Biology products and applications.
The internship will allow the candidate to discover the applied research covering a wide range of
subjects such as biological suspended/biofilm morphology, gas molecular diffusion and ultrafiltration
membranes.
The intern will collaborate with pilot operators, laboratory assistants and researchers.
Duties & Responsibilities:
● Discover drinking water treatment application by support laboratory analyses and the
operation of drinking water pilots in Oakville Technology Center (50%)
● Discover wastewater by:
o producing bank of microscopic images of biomass & using Veolia AI code to
implement sensitivity analysis and reporting (20%)
o studying NAM wastewater regulations by building regulation database(20%)
● Discover wastewater by shadowing laboratory and pilots operation at Guelph facility (10%)
Weighting of activities might evolve based on Veolia priority and candidates profile and experience.

Qualifications

Education & Experience
Required:
● Year 1 or Year 2 of Bachelor of Sciences in Biology and/or Environmental fields
● Interest to discover water treatment, drinking waste and waste water applications

Working Conditions
● Oakville office as per WTS Canada rules (full-time)
● Occasional shadowing work at Guelph pilot hall facility (2-10 days in total)
