Job Summary
Under moderate supervision, repair, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment, instrumentation, and support systems of moderate complexity used in healthcare delivery. Inspect, install, and perform inventory assessments and preventive maintenance of medical equipment. Assist medical and nursing staff in the use of equipment.

Duties include:
Repair, install, maintain, calibrate, and inspect medical equipment and instrumentation, including life-support equipment. Perform preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing of clinical equipment, devices, and systems. Diagnose and correct system and equipment malfunctions. Maintain documentation on new equipment, inspections, and equipment repairs and failures. Assist with and evaluate third-party repairs. Provide technical assistance and instruction to personnel regarding equipment operation and maintenance. Review outcome of preventive maintenance actions and make recommendations to department staff concerning improvements. Provide mentoring to other biomedical equipment technicians. May assist senior biomedical engineering technicians or supervisor with in-service educational programs on use of equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities
listed and meet the amount of education, training, and/or work experience required.
Education/Experience
Associate's degree in electronics or biomedical equipment technology is highly desirable, as well as a minimum of two years' experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
