Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Facilities Services, the Biomed Manager ensures the performance, safety, and compliance of medical and radiology equipment across the medical center and outreach facilities. This role oversees preventive and corrective maintenance, regulatory compliance, and the evaluation of products, supplies, and equipment. The manager leads staff recruitment, supervision, and development, while managing operational and capital budgets to ensure financial efficiency. Acting as a liaison between teams, the manager develops policies and protocols, supports outreach services, and fosters collaboration to uphold HaysMed's standards of care and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
Identifies equipment for preventive maintenance, performs checklists assigned to equipment, performs electrical safety protocols, corrects equipment failures, and records results. Processes work requests by evaluating repair needs, ordering required parts, completing the necessary tasks, and documenting outcomes in the work order system. Accurately performs quality control procedures to maintain regulatory standards and accreditation requirements. Adheres to equipment safety standards and identifies and appropriately reports variances and concerns. Identifies part numbers, prepares purchase orders, contacts vendors to place orders using purchase order and part numbers, forwards completed orders to the Materials Management department, and receives and processes incoming parts. Manages equipment database, schedules and coordinates outreach visits, follows proper check-in procedures, completes service and billing reports, and schedules follow-up maintenance. Ensures safe driving techniques when operating department vehicles under adverse weather conditions, and strategically maneuvers vehicles through heavy traffic, difficult loading dock entries, and other obstacles. Supervises day-to-day operations of the Biomed department, including scheduling outreach service, assigning work orders, shift work for PM completion, and approving repair orders as needed. Provides mentorship in a positive environment by sharing knowledge and expertise with fellow staff and other pertinent individuals/facilities. Performs other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
An Associate degree or completion of a two-year vocational training in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronic Technology, or a related field is required. Alternatively, ten years of prior biomedical equipment experience may substitute for formal education. A valid Kansas driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, insurable through the hospital’s insurance carrier. Ability to read and interpret schematicsPreferred:

Infection Control: This position will include initial and ongoing training in dealing with infection control. Training could include but is not limited to blood-borne pathogens, bodily fluids, and biohazardous materials, as it applies to your daily work environment.
