Biomedical Curator

LAC Federal is seeking Biomedical Indexer to support a major biomedical library in the Washington, DC, metro area. The Biomedical Indexer will support indexing quality control. This is a part time remote position (20 hours a week). This position will require passing a background check and obtaining credentials to access the library's systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

In support of MeSH indexing quality control and clean-up, the staff will:

Construct PubMed searches to identify citations with missing or incorrect publication types or other headings. Review lists of citations identified as potentially requiring specific indexing corrections. Submit lists of affected PMIDs (PubMed unique identifiers) as batch correction requests Manually make corrections in PMDM (PubMed Data Management System) Work to support quality assurance, systems management, and/or data analysis for the section, which may include but not limited to: Importing data from spreadsheets into SharePoint tables Creating PubMed queries for comprehensive retrieval of specific concepts and annotating the results, to generate training data for Machine Learning Collecting and integrating data from Jira, SharePoint, and other sources; using it to create tables and charts. Attend meetings with internal and client staff to plan tasks. Provide information and contribute to monthly and annual reporting requirements. Strong communication skills including ability to collaborate with management, technical and scientific staff to accomplish projects and tasks. Ability to quickly and independently educate oneself on unfamiliar biomedical concepts and terminology.
