Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Biomedical Engineer II with neurotechnology or neuromodulation experience to join a team of accomplished researchers that are leading programs in neurotechnology and medical devices, including NeuroLife rehabilitation technology, published in Nature and recipient of multiple R&D100 awards as well as research programs funded by NIH, DARPA, CMDRP as well as other internal and external funding. This position is located in Columbus, OH.

 

The Biomedical Engineer will assist in the execution of research studies, data analysis, engineering tasks, and support the creation of publications in refereed journals, conference presentations, grant submissions, patents, and/or technology commercialization efforts.

Responsibilities Support the fundamental science, engineering, and understanding of novel neurotechnologies and medical devicesSupport the development of new technologies and devices to solve challenging problems for patients and for our clients Co-author peer-reviewed publicationsSupport proposal efforts for research grants and commercial clientsPresent research findings both internally and externallyDesign and conduct clinical, pre-clinical or laboratory studiesPerform tasks and programs within defined scope, schedule and budget Frequently interface with a multi-disciplinary team of researchers, engineers, scientists, clinicians, and other stakeholders.Support product development of technology sub-systems, including for example neural assistive and neural rehabilitative systemsAnalyze complex datasets and create publication quality graphics and presentations.Develop and implement signal processing and machine learning algorithms to analyze and decode data from various sensors.Key Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 2 years of experience; or Ph.D. or Masters Degree in related field. Experience in supporting the development of neuromodulation technologies in any of the following areas: peripheral nerve stimulation and recording, chronic pain management, motor/sensory related signal decoding, neuromuscular electrical stimulation, brain computer interface applications, or deep brain stimulation.Evidence of supporting thought leadership in neurotechnology as indicated by contributing to publications in refereed journals, conference presentations, patents, and/or technology commercialization.Strong programming skills, in Python, Matlab, C/C++, or similar.Experience in data analysis, familiarity with basic statistical methods, data visualizations, biological signal processing methods and algorithms.Excellent technical writing skills as demonstrated by contributing to journal publications and grant proposals.Experience conducting technical tasks within interdisciplinary research and/or product development teams.Demonstrated independent thought and ability to identify and resolve problems associated with the development and implementation of complex technologies.Flexibility and agility to adapt to change while maintaining quality delivery to stakeholders. Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.Must be onsite in Columbus, OH at least 3 days per week.Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a government clearance.Preferred Qualifications Understanding of the technical and regulatory requirements, and processes associated with medical device development.Advanced degree preferred. Experience in advanced signal processing in real-time with machine learning algorithms.Experience developing graphical user interfaces.Experience with running clinical studies and knowledge of IRB regulations is a plus.Experience with developing closed-loop neural interfaces.Familiarity with neural interface technologies, such as EEG, EMG, and/or intracortical recordings.
