Title: Biomedical Equipment Repair Technician 3

Location: Brook Army Medical Center (San Antonio, TX)

Education: Graduate of a military BMET Course or a higher education degree from an accredited college in BMET or Engineering.

Clearance: Public Trust Clearance or above preferred. A Public Trust Clearance is not required day one but will be processed and therefore must be a US Citizen able to obtain a clearance.

Summary:

The Association for the Advancement Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards for BMETs and levels of qualifications shall be applied to this position. CP shall provide expert-level experience in the repair, calibrate, and maintenance of all types of clinical equipment technologies, devices, instruments, and complex systems.  Inspect, install, repair, prepare for disposition, and provide SPM of MDE.Duties include all items listed under BMET II, to additionally include.

 

Serves as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for MDE in three (3) or more of the following modalities: Healthcare Imaging (Radiology), Laboratory, Sterilization, Patient Monitoring, Operating Room Services, Dental, Pharmacy, Respiratory Services, Scopes, Pulmonary, Anesthesia, Veterinary, and High-End Electronics.Assign routine SPM, repairs, inspections, dispositions, and installations to CPs and observe their performance.Provides mentorship, guidance, and assistance to other BMETs, BES and clinical staff on safe use, application, testing, and SPM and repair of all types of clinical equipment technologies and systems.Recommend new equipment and testing procedures.Collaborate with Information Systems to ensure HIPAA compliance and connectivity of MDE.

 

Requirements:

Graduate of a military BMET Course or a higher education degree from an accredited college in BMET or Engineering8 years relevant experience

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Extensive knowledge and ability to apply electronic circuitry and technical aspects of the operation, repair and maintenance of electronic equipment. Repair electronic, pneumatic, electro-mechanical and mechanical medical to include troubleshooting, identifying source of problem(s), replacement of defective printed circuit board(s), discrete component(s), or other parts as appropriate.Applies knowledge of information theory, computer science, and systems analysis to integrated operational systems for specific and complex MDE and systems; such as the Cardio/Patient Monitoring Systems, Imaging Systems and DINPACS.   Knowledge of systems interface and local area network issues are significant and not defined/discussed in manufacturer literature.Basic knowledge of networking theory.
