Biomedical Equipment Technician- Full-time - Days
Under general supervision, performs corrective and preventative maintenance on patient care devices such as patient lifts, patient beds, stretchers, wheel chairs, recliners, centrifuge rpms, patient monitoring and others as assigned. Will also assist Clinical and Radiological Engineers on support for risk category I, II, III & IV devices. May require working varied shifts or weekends to meet department support needs. Reports directly to Manager of Clinical Engineering.

Education:
High School / GED required. Associates degree or military / vocational training in Electronics preferred
 

Licensure:
Successfully pass GBMC provided vendor training course and certification exams
 

Experience:
4 years job related experience.
 

Skills:
• Ability to use electronic hand tools.
• Ability to interpret electronic circuit diagrams and understands technical publications pertaining to biomedical systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot, repair and perform preventive maintenance of patient care equipment.
• Ability to answer and reply to service calls effectively, as well as communicate effectively to nursing staff on medical equipment repair needs.
• Knowledge of patient beds and lifts.
• Basic computer skills.
• Critical thinking skills.
• Ability to multitask effectively.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Performs corrective and preventative maintenance on patient care devices such as patient lifts, patient beds, stretchers, wheel chairs, recliners, centrifuge rpm’s patient monitoring and others as assigned. Will also assist Clinical and Radiological Engineers on support for risk category I, II, III & IV devices.
• Performs preventative maintenance (PM’s) on assigned equipment. This includes completion of assignments within the designated timeframe, documentation input into computer, and stickers updated on all completed devices at time of completion of PM.
• Incoming Inspection and Assembly of New medical devices for patient use.
• Performs repairs on assigned equipment with minimum supervision. to include responding to repairs within the designated timeframe, informing the department immediately when a device is removed and/or re-installed during a repair event and informing the department supervisor if repair time will exceed 24 hours.
• Informs department and supervisor of unsafe equipment issues which includes removal of damaged or unsafe equipment in use and pursuing appropriate course to rectify safety issues.
• Provide nursing staff additional equipment in services to rectify proper use.
• Supports additional equipment modalities by annually assessing devices in area of responsibility and submitting to supervisor suggestions for additional in-house maintenance support and equipment replacements.
• Annually increases PM completion percentage for assigned devices.
• Assist Clinical Engineering manager in pre-purchasing and evaluation of Clinical equipment.
• Process and order repair parts.
• Manage and maintain spare and back up parts for an adequate inventory.
• Answer and reply to service calls effectively. Communicate effectively to nursing staff on the medical equipment repair needs.

Pay Range

$23.53 - $38.57

Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
