Guidehouse Digital, Inc. is searching for a business analyst for genomics analysis software and other products in a biomedical research environment at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) in the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This opportunity is a full-time position with Guidehouse and is on site in Rockville, MD.
The business analyst will primarily work within a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the development and extension of a human genomics research program with a focus on patient genomic data. The role may also provide business analyst services to other biomedical software projects. The role will serve as an integral member of the team consisting of informatics scientists, software developers, and scientific researchers and clinicians. The role will report to and support the product owner and will also have responsibilities matrixed with a software development team and project manager. The role will involve gathering and documenting requirements from a diverse group of system users including researchers and clinical staff, and bioinformatics subject matter experts. The role will assist with planning and organizing project activities including: capturing requirements and acceptance criteria, tracking and validating deliverables in a product backlog; and performing other administrative management duties under the direction of the product owner.
**What You Will Do** **:**
+ Act as an organizing point of contact for stakeholders and system users for the purpose of gathering and clarifying requirements and feedback.
+ Maintain clear and comprehensive product documentation
+ Document user stories and acceptance criteria for the development team
+ Assist the project manager to prepare and communicate product-release plans
+ Liaise between the development team and product users to ensure a shared understanding of the product and feature goals
+ Assist with product backlog grooming, updating it regularly to ensure that the backlog is aligned with the product strategy and priorities
+ Participate in SCRUM framework meetings and work closely with the development team to ensure clear understanding of requirements
+ Assist with data and documentation that will allow the product owner to make critical decisions regarding product scope, feature prioritization, and trade-offs
+ Define and uphold standards for business requirement documentation including acceptance criteria
+ Identify areas for improvement in communications and documentation and coordinate within the team
+ Conduct analysis of similar genomic analysis and data integration tools to aid in build-versus-buy decision-making and to understand the product as it relates to the marketplace
+ Participate in product user focus groups and training and outreach efforts as well as preparing user support information related to the product
+ Work alongside the Product Owner and Project Manager to prepare project plans including resource estimates and schedules for presentation to stakeholders including those for Enterprise Lifecycle (EPLC) stage gate reviews
+ Analyze and resolve issues that have the potential to jeopardize performance and/or the ability to meet agreed upon milestones and deliverables.
**What You Will Need** **:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in a biomedical or computer science field
+ Minimum of 4 years of previous business analysis experience in a software development team, preferably working in the biomedical research field
+ 4+ years of experience working in an agile team using the SCRUM methodology
+ 2+ years working with data analysis ideally including biomedical or clinical data which could include performing analysis or data management
+ 2+ years of experience coordinating with research scientists and clinicians; Coordination activities could include gathering requirements, organizing focus groups, developing communication strategies, policies, SOPs, and/or user support documents
+ Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills to a wide variety of audiences; Proficiency with MS O365 applications including Teams.
+ Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
+ Experience with agile SCRUM methodology

The annual salary range for this position is $98,000.00-$163,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
