Biomedical Technician
Health Systems Management, Inc. (HSM) is a full-service healthcare management organization providing a full range of development, management, and administrative services for dialysis facilities over the past 35 years in Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. HSM has an outstanding reputation in the renal community for providing high quality patient care and encouraging physician input while maintaining efficient business operations. We are currently seeking compassionate, dedicated, and highly motivated Biomedical Technicians to join our dialysis team.
Responsibilities and Physical Demands:
+ Responsible for repairs, calibration-testing, and maintenance of dialysis equipment and instrumentation used in the facility, as well as for miscellaneous equipment used in the facility.
+ Ensures that safety tests are completed on the dialysis equipment to ensure the patients and staff are safe from electrical or mechanical hazards.
+ Responsible for monitoring the quality of water used by the dialysis facility.
+ Demonstrates technical competence in dialysis equipment operation, maintenance and repair.
+ Utilizes effective communication skills which foster an atmosphere of team building and mutual respect for all departments.
+ Demonstrates responsibility for personal development by participating in continuing education offerings and organizational activities.
+ Participates in providing the dialysis facility and, when applicable, the home dialysis program, with 24 hour on-call services, as well as providing home visits.
+ Accountable for following written infection control policies and procedures.
+ Participates in cost containment activities.
+ Promotes inter- and intra-departmental cohesiveness.
+ Remains informed regarding organizational policies and updates to policies by attending all mandatory meetings and activities as needed.
+ Follows internal policies and procedures relating to infection control and safety guidelines as mandated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
+ Completes all annual in-services, including those related to Blood Borne Pathogens.
+ Utilizes time and resources wisely.
+ Responsible for other duties as assigned.
+ This position requires frequent and prolonged periods of standing and the employee must be able to bend over.
+ The employee may occasionally be required to move machines and equipment of up to 200 pounds, with assistance, and may lift chemical and water solutions of up to 30 pounds and as high as 5 feet.
Education Requirements and Position Qualifications:
+ High School Diploma required.
+ Associate’s Degree in Electronic or Biomedical Technology preferred.
+ Valid drivers license.
+ Willingness to work a flexible schedule and to fill in when needed.
+ Excellent bedside manner and communication skills.
+ Employee must successfully pass the Ishihara’s Color Blind Test.
