Gundersen Health System is looking to add a Biomedical Technician to our growing Biomedical Technology and Healthcare Technology Management team!

What You'll Do:

Healthcare Technology Management professionals are key members of the healthcare delivery team. As a Biomedical Technician, you will be responsible for the procurement and management of materials, supplies, equipment, and components to support the Biomedical and Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) department. The work you will do including installation, testing, maintenance, repair, support, and calibration of life-saving medical devices and equipment directly impacts patient safety and care. You may also advise, assist, and train hospital & clinic staff with proper and safe operation of technical equipment. Additional responsibilities will include maintaining necessary records of cost and inventory within CMMS as well as the setup of physical space for an organized inventory. 

What's Available:

Fulltime, 80 hours biweekly (1.0 FTE)

Schedule: Monday-Friday between 7:00 am - 4:00 pm

Primarily based in La Crosse, WI but may travel to provide support to affiliate and clinic locations

We have the ability to fill positions at various experience levels depending on candidates' existing experience
 

What You'll Need: 

Associate degree in Biomedical Electronics, Biomedical Equipment Technology, or a similar program - or - equivalent years of experience and education

2 years of experience maintaining and performing diagnostic work to medical equipment

Valid Driver's License (DL)

Familiarity with medical equipment and electronic part identification is preferred but not required.

No professional certification required

Job Description:

The Biomedical Technician Associate is an entry-level position that performs simple to moderately complex technical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of diagnostic and therapeutic medical/imaging electronic equipment. Additionally, the technician may provide limited support and maintenance of applications and servers for applications for specific medical devices. The technician works under moderately close supervision while demonstrating necessary technical and problem-solving aptitude. The technician is expected to develop the necessary proficiencies and expertise to consistently ensure medical devices meet the highest standard of providing safe patient care.

Major Responsibilities:

1.    Under general supervision, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs diagnostic and therapeutic medical device utilizing established electronic test and measurement equipment and techniques.
2.    Assists with the installation, calibration, and testing of new diagnostic and therapeutic medical/imaging electronic equipment.
3.    Performs scheduled preventive maintenance on medical diagnostic and therapeutic electronic devices in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, applicable codes, standards, and department policy. 
4.    Conducts scheduled and unscheduled electrical and functional safety inspections on diagnostic and therapeutic medical/imaging electronic equipment.
5.    Provides operational and technical assistance on equipment to medical and clinical staff when needed. Interacts with clinical staff on a regular basis to ensure needs are being met
6.    Documents and maintains accurate records of all inspections, repairs, adjustments etc. performed on all equipment.
7.    Interacts with manufacturer representatives to obtain the necessary technical product information.
8.    Basic understanding of networking/or digital imaging technology.
9.    Requests and/or orders necessary repair and spare parts according to established procedures and contract relationships.
10.    Participates in both internal and external educational programs through professional associations, technical training courses, and seminars to develop and maintain the required current technical aptitude.
11.    May provide similar services across and outside region.
12.    Commits to continuously improving knowledge and abilities to become and remain proficient
13.    Functions as highly organized, efficient, and manage concurrent tasks with the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
14.    Lifts, carries, and/or pushes/pulls various items (bags, boxes, carts, etc.,) while utilizing proper technique.

15.    Adheres to regular and predictable attendance.
16.    Performs other related duties as assigned.
17.    The incumbent is responsible for adhering to established service standards.

Education and Learning:

REQUIRED

Associate of Applied Science Degree from a Biomedical Electronics Program/accredited institution, or

A degree or certificate of equivalence through military/technical education in biomedical/electronics/engineering, or

Equivalent years of education and experience 

DESIRED

Associate of Applied Science Degree from a Biomedical Electronics Program/accredited institution, or

Degree or certificate of equivalence through military/technical education in biomedical/ electronics/engineering
