We continue to research and develop treatments for cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases, and other orphan diseases. **How you’ll contribute** Conduct and assist in research efforts to develop tissue-based regenerative medicine products for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension and other lung diseases. + Serve as a primary operator of in-house lung recellularization systems with moderate supervision to support process development activities for a tissue engineered product + Prepare or assist in preparation of human and non-human organs, tissues, and cells for experimentation + Perform maintenance, cleaning, sterilization, and set-up of bioreactors for tissue engineering studies as needed + Identify deviations and discover issues or problems in testing. Communicate findings to direct supervisor or team lead to determine next steps + Make technical observations in-process. Communicate observations to manager or stakeholder to determine next steps in modifying work practices and processes to achieve results or create efficiency + Record and manage use of materials and reagents needed to carry out experiments + Record laboratory data in the in-house data management system(s) + Perform assays to evaluate cell distribution and cell phenotype in recellularized scaffolds and contribute to the interpretation and conclusions based on the data as needed + Follow proper procedures regarding laboratory safety, use of personal protective equipment, and handling of biohazard materials, including human or animal cells and tissues + Adhere to standard operating procedures, laboratory methods and protocols under GLP/GMP-like conditions for the production and analysis of a tissue engineered product + May be required to work occasional evenings or weekends as part of a potential weekly on-call rotation to support lab experiments according to study design **For this role you will need** Minimum Requirements + Associates Degree in life science, engineering, or biomedical science + 1+ years of experience in life science, bioengineering, or biomedical research with an Associates Degree or + Familiarity with appropriate word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and related standard software + Experience with laboratory instrumentation and data software + Ability to independently follow experimental methods and protocols + Ability to organize data + Ability to initiate routine and day-to-day tasks + Excellent teamwork skills + Ability to work with a diverse team Preferred Qualifications + Bachelor’s Degree in life science, engineering, or biomedical science with relevant course work, experience, or project-based undergraduate research experience At United Therapeutics, you’ll realize quickly that it is not an ordinary place to work!
