Biostatistician -- Health Services & Outcomes Rsc -- Chesterfield Bldg 4-Center for Learning & Resea

Job Summary

Provide statistical and methodological expertise with inter-disciplinary and collaborative clinical research.

 

Responsibilities

• Conduct literature reviews utilizing Medscape, Pub Med and other internet search engines. Review, screen, and summarize literature for the Principal Investigator.

• Work with investigators to determine appropriate variables and sample size to answer research question(s).

• Develop research questionnaires and data gathering techniques.

• Compose documents and complete forms for research proposals undergoing the institutional review process.

• Compose and assist with the preparation of grant proposals from internal and external granting agencies.

• Supervise research assistants, coders, and abstractors regarding the collection of data that will be analyzed.

• Setup databases for data entry.

• Clean data utilizing appropriate software packages.

• Advise researchers on the appropriate selection and utilization of statistical methods of analysis.

• Evaluate data processing needs, equipment and software, for the department to assure that it is capable of meeting the needs of the research project.

• Design and conduct statistical analysis of research data.

• Train novice researchers, student externs, residents, medical students, research assistants, and other departmental staff to use statistical packages and to input data, interpret results, and develop presentations for specific projects, which they are assigned.

• Manage and organize the storage of raw, compiled, and analyzed data.

• Maintain professional growth and development through professional activities, conferences, etc., to keep abreast of development in biostatistics.

• Consult with the Director and other researchers on the research design of individual projects.

• Supervise Department of Medical Research special projects.

• Prepare interim and final reports of completed projects that have undergone statistical manipulation.

• Prepare presentations for research investigators.

• Assist in the writing and reviewing of manuscripts for publication.

Education 

• Master's Degree (Required) Education: Master's Degree may be in Bio Statist, STAT or Related

 

Credentials 

• Drivers License (Required)
