**Overview**
The Biostatistician, Technical Lead position provides expertise in the use of statistics and data science for quality measurement science. They are conducting research to support the development of quality measures. They also manage project teams of professional statisticians and data managers supporting NQF’s and the Joint Commission’s quality measurement projects. They guide statistical aspects of the expanded development and use of next-generation quality measures -- i.e., high priority, low burden measures that improve equity, quality, and affordability -- in Joint Commission programs. The Biostatistician, Technical Lead position supports the development, testing, and benchmarking of measures for use in accreditation, certification, value-based payment and care improvement, drawing on multiple data sources including claims, electronic health record, patient-report, registry, and other digitally sourced data.
**Responsibilities**
+ Prepare data sets for analysis and evaluate and resolve data issues
+ Contribute to design of studies in support of quality measurement activities, including measure development, measure adaptation, measure application in products and programs (including accreditation and certification), and development and display of benchmarks for stakeholder reports.
+ Conduct statistical analyses that inform measure design and testing, including risk models, validity, and reliability.
+ Partner with project leaders and lead project teams to identify and capture data required from internal and external sources.
+ Regularly communicate status of projects to organization leaders
+ Maintain working knowledge of statistics and informatics, including technology, standards, and methods used in healthcare and research.
**Qualifications**
**Education/Certification**
Advanced degree in statistics, biostatistics, or health services research with training and experience relevant to healthcare quality measurement.
**Experience**
Minimum of 7 years of experience as methodologist or statistician contributing to the development of quality measures, clinical predictive models or related assays
Minimum 3 years of experience managing a portfolio of projects and budgets
**Skills/Abilities**
+ Clearly articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
+ Demonstrated understanding of the statistical and technical aspects of quality measures using claims, registry, electronic health record and patient-reported data
+ Demonstrated ability to work under deadline on a complicated array of projects, meeting defined outcomes on time and within budget
+ Ability to provide technical knowledge to guide project teams, as well as ability to learn new content to guide projects
+ Demonstrated skills in problem-solving, issue resolution and a clear track record serving as a recognized technical expert
+ Agility and ability to easily shift with changing priorities
+ Great collaborator who thrives in a culture of innovation and individual and shared accountability
+ Passion for improving health care quality, outcomes and affordability
