The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute seeks an Biostatistician with a focus in large data sets and machine learning who will work within the Hale Family Center for Pancreatic Cancer Research (http://halecenter.dfci.harvard.edu).The Hale Family Center for Pancreatic Cancer Research focuses on Pancreatic Cancer Research and one area of focus in early detection of Pancreatic Cancer using electronic medical records data. This role will help to analyze this data to evaluate the quality of this data, risk, and outcomes.

Responsibilities Design and implement studies to evaluate determinants of pancreatic cancer risk and outcomesCollaborate with other laboratory members with expertise in epidemiology, biostatistics, pathology, molecular biology, and functional genomicsConduct analyses using statistical software, such as SAS, R, and others Participate in group meetings and work collaboratively on larger projects with other group membersGenerate data for figures and tables to serve as the basis for published manuscripts Write manuscripts describing research resultsWrite grants and progress reports related to research funding Qualifications Master’s degree in Statistics or BiostatisticsStrong background in epidemiology and statisticsExperience managing and analyzing large datasetsStrong commitment to cancer research is required; experience with digital pathology, transcriptomics and tumor genomics would be an advantageHigh level of dedication to workAbility to work independently and perform troubleshooting when neededMust have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and be able to work with a wide variety of faculty and staffAbility to analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues and problemsAttention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasksAbility to work within a team environmentComfort working in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentMultitasking essential
