Do you enjoy providing customer service? Are you looking to work with patients? UPMC Corporate Services is looking to hire a Birth Registrar to support UPMC Magee. This role would work Friday through Monday, including holidays, from 7:00am until 5:30pm.
The Birth Registrar functions under the general direction of department leadership in Patient Access. This position coordinates patient access for all phases of the revenue cycle, from scheduling and registration, up to, and including, referral and denial management. This role will spend half of the time completing clerical tasks and data entry for the birth registry, and the other half will be spent going into patient rooms to talk with new parents and obtain the name of the baby for birth certificate entry. The employee will also be cross-trained to support other areas, including Outpatient Registration, Labor and Delivery, and the Emergency Department.

Responsibilities:
Complete Acknowledgement of Paternity form with mother. Demonstrate the ability to operate and efficiently utilize all systems and office equipment. Generate and complete all applicable forms and necessary communications while obtaining signature for consent to treatment and financial responsibility following the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) rules and regulations. Interview postpartum patients, verifying and collecting data necessary for completion of the birth certificate worksheet to enter via on line system DAVE while keeping within state mandated guidelines. Enter Hepatitis B vaccine information into DAVE per daily Hepatitis B log. Perform all corrections for vital statistics. Complete MA-112 form with mother when applicable. Field billing and patient inquiries as related to the birth registry process. This includes walk-ins seeking information from their birth often for passports or birth certificates. Support and contribute to UPMC core values and guiding principles of “Your Care.
