Job Title: Blackstone Private Equity - Principal

Job Responsibilities:

Identify, evaluate, and develop investment opportunities and seek strategic investors and manage junior resources.Participate in the origination of investment opportunities or leading idea generation / research / outreach to develop new investment areas for the firm.Direct research of targeted industries for investment purposes to identify strategically important sub-verticals and high-quality investment opportunities within them.Lead investment research, deal screening and industry evaluation.Attend conferences to develop relationships with management teams of prospective investment targets and other industry experts.Conduct extensive research to understand prevailing industry trends and develop sector expertise.Execute screens of both public and private companies leveraging software tools to develop a targeted investment thesis unique to Blackstone Capital Partners (“BCP”) and our clients’ needs.Develop detailed diligence workplans, lead due diligence calls with target management teams and industry experts, structure deals, and lead the negotiation of terms sheets, purchase agreements and financing terms.Lead the ongoing management of portfolio companies; assisting management with key operational and financial decisions.Develop and manage various due diligence procedures for prospective investments, including managing the internal deal team members across the firm as well as numerous third-party due diligence providers (i.e., accountants, lawyers, consultants, specialists, etc.) to ensure that the expert findings are tested, codified, analyzed and communicated ahead of making an investment decision.Manage the preparation of written analyses to present the pros and cons of a potential investment opportunity, as well as conduct ongoing evaluations of investment opportunities for use by BCP and Blackstone Group management and review by clients.Lead internal and external client meetings, investment committee sessions and due diligence sessions with clients, industry experts, management teams, and other investment counterparties.Assist in the negotiation of term sheets, management incentive plans, contracts, and other related agreements with investment counterparties and portfolio companies.Monitor the strategic, operational and financial performance of BCP’s portfolio investments post-acquisition through attendance at and participation in portfolio company Board of Directors meetings, preparation of ongoing valuation materials, and partnership with senior management teams to execute on the investment thesis and growth strategies that were developed and articulated at the time of investment.Participate in the monitoring and evaluation of potential exit alternatives for existing portfolio companies, including initial public offerings, dividend recapitalizations, sale to strategic acquiror, or sale to a financial sponsor.Oversee a team of 25 BCP Analysts and Associates and coordinate outreach and evaluation of candidates for Intern, Analyst and Associate roles.Mentor, train and provide guidance to current junior team members.Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Accounting, or a related field required.

Experience:

Minimum 6 years of experience in job offered or related occupations required.Minimum 6 years of experience in underwriting, conducting due diligence, and closing financial transactions across the United States and Internationally.Minimum 6 years of experience using Microsoft Excel to build detailed financial models and perform complex related financial analyses (valuation, LBO, risk / return dynamics, pro forma cash flow, analysis, sensitivity analysis etc.).Minimum 6 years of experience using Microsoft PowerPoint to develop internal and external presentation materials.Minimum 6 years of experience using financial market applications such as Bloomberg, Eikon, Capital IQ and / or FactSet to run / create / support detailed financial analyses.Minimum 6 years of experience using Dealcloud and / or equivalent CRM software to manage deal flow processes.Experience can be concurrent.

Expected annual base salary range:

$225,000 - $250,000

Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills, qualifications and job location. For roles located outside of the US, please disregard the posted salary bands as these roles will follow a separate compensation process based on local market comparables.

Additional compensation: Base salary does not include other forms of compensation or benefits offered in connection with the advertised role.
