Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Role Purpose:

Blankmaking EMM position available for progression in the Blankmaking department. The position allows for the advancement of technical skills in Blankmaking Laydown and Consolidation areas. The chosen candidate will provide technical support and troubleshooting to support 24/7 production. Supports Operations with work relating to equipment and process performance as well as safety initiatives. Works hands-on with manufacturing equipment and related activities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Promotes and adheres to all plant safety requirements and initiatives. Supports production on rotating shifts to help deliver yields, throughput and product quality.  Completes Electrical and Mechanical troubleshooting and auditing tasks per documented procedures up to and including Level 3 troubleshooting tasks. Monitor Equipment with PI/Dashboard and take appropriate action when required. Makes decisions based upon data and technical understanding. Documents all work in Maximo.  Facilitates the sharing of learnings across shifts. Work with and train Level 1 troubleshooters and other support personnel to improve troubleshooting skills within the department.

Training & skill development for EMM role Function/Technical: 

Adheres to and helps enforce that all safety procedures (i.e., Lock out/Tag out, PPE, etc.) are followed at all times. Displays interest and drive to understand technical problems. Seeks to identify and correct potential safety or environmental issues before they occur.

 

Required: 

Electrically Qualified  Strong mechanical background. Ability to handle/prioritize multiple tasks as necessary—be aware of production bottlenecks.  Good written and verbal communication skills. Must be self-motivated and proactive (does not wait to be assigned tasks/work) Experience with Maximo

 

Desired Skills

2-year technical degree in Mechatronics or similar type program but relevant experience will be considered instead.   Experience with Maximo CMMS system for maintenance Experience with PI Vision Data analysis skills Good verbal/written communication skills Interpersonal skills – engaging, enabling, open. Rigorous problem-solving skills Effective in managing multiple priorities. Equipment or software Used AutoCad, PI, Dashboard, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Maximo

The range for this position is ​$31.50 hourly rate - $35.00 hourly rate.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
