WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
A credentialed veterinary technician with several years of clinical experience with a passion for blood blanking processes and products. You should be highly organized and a scheduling wizard that is fluent in Google Suite products. You’re an excellent multi-tasker who works with speed and accuracy. You exude positivity and want exceptional care for your furry patients and their loving parents.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Blood and plasma product processing (via centrifuge and pressing process) Record management, including inventory tracking of units (patient, product, hospital of disposition, etc.) Coordination with regional satellite hospitals (donation scheduling, shipping/receiving of blood products, assistance with procurement of satellite hospital supplies, assistance with marketing initiatives) Assistance and management of the Falls Church blood bank, which includes collaboration among existing Program Coordinators and assistance with donor draws Ability to follow designed protocols to ensure the highest level of safety and product quality Sedation skills are required Ability to train in phlebotomy techniques in both dog and cat patients Knows to interpret the blood donor’s safety and laboratory values before a blood collection Desire to understand and have an ownership mentality of equipment used in blood processing (troubleshooting, safety, preventative maintenance, etc.) Potential need to travel
WHO YOU ARE
Credentialed veterinary technician (Virginia LVT) required 3+ years of experience handling blood draws and managing patient care and safety Sedation skills and knowledge of safety protocols are required 5+ years of experience in laboratory operations and quality Blood banking experience is required Proficient in Google Suite (Google Calendar, Gmail, Google Sheets, etc.) Management/leadership experience highly desirable, though not required Prior experience with shipping blood products via FedEx preferred but not required
