Position: Blown Film Operator I

Location: Elk Grove

Wage:  $25.41/hr

Shift Differential: $2.00/hr

Night Shift: 5:45pm - 6:15am

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Extrusion Operator Level 1

Set up and operate blown film extrusion line, using materials in pellets to produce plastic film meeting specs.Install or change screens, set up trim scrap, palletizer and grinder, film winder and pellet grinder and adjust dies.Visually check film for defects, check dimensions with micrometers and make necessary adjustments.Set Up raw material feeding system.Maintain records of material use and production.Follow equipment workplace cleaning/sanitation procedures, to complete Sanitation ChecklistFollow GMP’s and PRP’s and production SOP’sConduct and document all quality checks for intermediate productQC checks. i.e. capacity, COF, gauge, width.Finished material handling.Daily housekeeping procedures.Regular, consistent attendance and punctuality are essential to the job.Report all food safety violations to management.Cut cores.Replace and process trim boxes by the grinders as necessary.Participate on the start up of the lines and change oversOther duties as assigned.Participate in Sonoco’s Performance System (SPS) activities as required – 5Star, Pillar Teams, Audits, Near Misses, etc.Regular, consistent attendance and punctuality are required and expected for job performance.

Skills Requirements:

Read, Speak and Write English.  Knowledge in blown film extrusion,Knowledge in resins, co-extrusion of a variety of plastics.

Educational Requirements:

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent job experience
