BMX Freestyle Coach/Zone Coach/Counselor - Hiring Now- Summer 2025!

JOB SUMMARY:

The BMX Freestyle Coach position is an integral part of the camper's experience, providing a dynamic platform that is unmatched. You will execute and support all aspects of the program, including overall curriculum and appropriate use of facilities. The goal is to ensure a high level of training and progression, making sure campers are engaged and participating in a responsible manner.     

   

The BMX Freestyle Zone Coach position will be responsible for the safety, vibe, and cleanliness of the Action Sports facilities around camp. Zone Coaches will be responsible for one (1) Action Sports facility per Zone Coach shift. Zone Coaches need to make sure campers are acting responsibly and respectfully to others and using the facility in a safe manner. They will be responsible for upholding energy within the park and for the cleanliness of the facility.     

   

The BMX Freestyle Counselor will be in collaboration with coaching and is responsible for the safety, health, and well-being of all campers within assigned cabin throughout the day and from the time they return to the cabin for the evening to when campers are released to instruction the following morning. They will be responsible for assisting campers with any needs or challenges that arise during the week, referring to department leads as needed. This role provides you with the ability to connect with the campers outside of the park setting and enhance the overall experience.  

Overall  

Work a maximum of 40 hours, including coaching, zone coaching, counseling and recreation activities as assigned  

Ensure campers are acting responsibly, respectfully and following all camp standards 

Coaching   

Responsible for leading a group of 7-10 campers daily through 2 (two) instruction sessions for 3.5 hours daily 

Assist with BMX Freestyle Program events and clinics 

Responsible for completing Progression Cards throughout the week for your instruction group of 7-10 campers 

Zone Coaching  

Safety - Make sure everyone is using the facility in a safe manner, and following proper skatepark etiquette 

Energy - Engaged, playing music, creating games, developing challenges and assisting campers with skill development 

Cleanliness - Sweeping, clearing facility of all debris and hazards, picking up trash, putting disregarded belongings into the Lost and Found  

Counseling   

Assist campers in daily routine including chores, overall cabin/surrounding area cleanliness, travelling to program activities and meals 

Ensure each camper's individual needs are met regarding their overall "well-being" (health, safety and wellness) 

Connection & Community – Create a cohesive and positive cabin experience amongst all campers in the cabin 


PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:

Ability to develop strong relationships with diverse groups of people. 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SPECIAL SKILLS:   

Preferred 1+ years of experience working with kids and/or teens  

Experience working in a camp environment is preferred

Strong interpersonal skills. Able to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:   

+/- 15 Campers (7-17 years old)  

​BASIC SCHEDULE/REQUIREMENTS:   

As a requirement of this position, pre-hire criminal history clearances are collected from the Pennsylvania State Police (PATCH) system, child abuse clearances are obtained through the Department of Public Welfare, and federal history is taken through FBI fingerprint screening.  

Physical Capabilities: bend, twist, push, pull, stand, lift 50 lbs.    

Preferred minimum 3 -week commitment within summer camp season.
