JOB DESCRIPTION
The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provides support to staff, students, and their families by coordinating and providing services in Applied Behavior Analysis, function analyses and assessment, behavior acquisition and reduction procedures, and adaptive life skills. The BCBA provides support to staff in identifying and working through problem behaviors. Provides ongoing professional development in the area of behavior to all staff. Provides techniques and modeling of behavior intervention support to staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
+ Work collaboratively with building and District staff to promote positive student behavior by providing professional development that targets research, strategies and modeling of instructional practices to support staff in their implementation of positive support and PBIS.
+ Demonstrate expertise in the area of data collection and behavior analysis.
+ Assists case managers/building based psychologists and social workers in writing of comprehensive functional assessments and behavior intervention plans and instructional methodologies for staff.
+ Demonstrate behavior management ideas and/or techniques.
+ Assist staff working with children with autism on teaching skill deficits, maintaining acquired skills, teaching self-help skills and develop social skills.
+ Develop materials and provide resources for and provide professional development to administrators, educators, paraprofessionals and parents/guardians.
+ Attend IEP, eligibility, or other meetings as necessary and provide related behavioral information.
+ Work with students who exhibit maladaptive/unexpected behaviors and provide support and professional learning for staff who work with such students.
+ Engage parents in the process of creating behavior programs for students in order to empower parents by providing them with skills and techniques to support the positive behavior development for their child.
+ Conducts functional behavior assessments and educational assessments, accurately identifying the function of challenging behavior and socially valid, pivotal behaviors to target.
+ Develops treatment plans that recommend individualized, evidence-based behavioral strategies in a format accessible to staff, family members, other professionals.
+ Develops strong collaborative relationships and trains families, caregivers, and school staff to implement effective techniques across all environments, promoting progress and generalization.
+ Provides ongoing training of school staff, ensuring treatment integrity and supporting the professional growth of staff in the areas of data collection, positive behavior supports, intervention techniques and instructional methodologies.
+ Monitors progress and evaluate treatment effectiveness regularly, maintaining high rates of progress.
+ Identifies behavior goals and intervention techniques utilizing non-aversive behavior change methods.
+ Selects intervention and strategies according to the needs and desires and abilities of the individual, and prepares written behavior interventions and strategies, and support plans.
+ Completes reports and other paperwork within the established timeframes.
+ Participates in building-level meetings as appropriate.
+ Ability to work independently and with a team.
+ Ability and desire to work patiently and compassionately with students who have challenging behaviors (e.g., yelling, biting, hitting, kicking, pinching).
+ Assist in other areas as needed.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
+ Predictable and reliable attendance.
During times of state or district emergency, all employees may be required to perform additional duties that are not required on a normal basis in support of educational and operational priorities. e.g. Performs general cleaning and sanitizing of work areas, provides remote assistance to students and staff, and any other reasonable duty as needed.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
+ Incumbent must be fingerprinted and clear a criminal backgrounds check.
+ This position requires a Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, Psychology, or related field.
+ Must have Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.
+ Must hold, or be eligible to hold, a State of Utah DOPL Behavior Analyst license.
+ Experience developing, writing, implementing, and evaluating individual and/or unit wide behavioral programs.
+ Experience training staff in behavioral principles and procedures.
+ Effective and professional communication.
+ Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
+ Critical thinking skills and problem solving.
+ Strong computer skills.
NOTE: The Administration reserves the right to require specific training for this position. However, depending upon the type and quality of prior work experience and availability of formal training programs, some exchanges can be made between training and experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS---Not limited to the following:
+ Occasional push/pull 100+ pounds, isometric lifting 20-pound static hold (5-8 Min.), single-arm lifting of up to 20 pounds to should level, floor to waist lift up to 75 pounds and awkward lift up to 75 pounds.
+ Frequent, continuous standing and sitting (chair and floor), walking, climbing stairs, talking and awkward positions, to/from ground without upper extremity support.
+ Occasional balancing on slick surfaces, gripping 50 pounds, pinching 10 pounds, sustained bending, squatting, kneeling, sustained bending, stooping and running.
+ Occasional hearing, near/far visual acuity and depth perception.
+ Must be able to respond to the unique educational needs of students with disabilities in a stressful setting.
+ This job may emphasize intervention with and management of aggressive and self-abusive students, angry students, emotional students, students with infectious diseases, and personal physical abuse.
+ Physical ability to perform the essential functions listed above with or without reasonable accommodation.
+ Possess the physical, mental, and emotional stability to work under stressful conditions, including but not limited to: deadlines, contract requirements, inspection requirements, and interaction with critical personnel.
