Summary This announcement uses the Certain Personnel of the DoD direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Responsibilities You will perform boatbuilding repairs, maintenance, major overhaul and renovations, from measurements given in docking plans. You will works with vinylester and epoxy resin systems, inside of and outside of a climate controlled atmosphere You will set up, operate and maintain various types of woodworking machinery such as bandsaws, jigsaws, planers, joiners, molders, mortisers, tenorers, and sanders. You will perform repair to aluminum boats such as fabricating, assembling, fitting and installing light aluminum and/or stainless-steel parts. You will assist with the performance of lifting various sail or power craft in or out of the water with a 75 or 300 ton travel lift. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Boatbuilder without more than normal supervision performing duties such as: 1) Boatbuilding repairs, maintenance, major overhaul and renovations, from measurements given in docking plans; 2) Interpreting, checking plans, blueprints, and sketches, ensuring the consistency of dimensions of a number of interlocking parts; 3) Working with all types of fiberglass and the ability to perform complex fiberglass repairs. **NOTE: This experience must be fully and clearly supported in your resume.
