Essential Job Functions

Key Function: Investigations

Plans and/or conducts investigations to analyze coverage, determine liability, compensability, and extent of damagesCompletes Bodily Injury Evaluation forms and/or makes recommendations for the disposition of claims in excess of individual settlement authorityCompiles information for decision making with discussion of claims committee where appropriateDetermine need for independent adjusters, cause and origin experts, independent medical examiners, economists, accident re-constructionists, and engineersAssesses actual damages associated with claims and conduct negotiations to settle claims. Determines if subrogation exists and take steps necessary to initiate recovery efforts.

Key Function: Administration Skills

Evaluates policy coverage, contacts insureds, claimants, attorneys, body shops and medical staff to determine injuries stemming from an accident while determining and establishing reserve requirementsEvaluates the medical injury exposure within guidelines, obtain authority when appropriate and make proper and timely paymentsMaintains accurate records and handle administrative responsibilities associated with processing and payment of claims.  Record and update status notes, and document results of contacts, relevant medical reports and duration information per Best PracticesDocuments computer log with results of review and intentions for handling

Key Function: Interpersonal Skills

Keeps internal and/or external customers advised of file status and other matters as required. Responds timely and appropriately to all settlement demands.Evaluates claim for potential fraud and work with Special Investigations Unit as required. Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED required2 year degree or higher is preferred.Minimum of 2 years previous auto liability claim handling experience or minimum 1 year bodily injury claims experience preferred.Must have or secure and maintain adjuster license(s) within 60 days of employmentKnowledge and understanding of applicable statues, regulations and case lawTraining in Excel and industry (insurance) knowledgeProficient in Microsoft Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)Possesses strong customer service skills and behaviorsTime management, prioritization, and organizational skills Ability to make effective decisions on behalf of the organizationThinks critically and anticipates, recognizes, identifies, and develops solutions to problems in a timely manner Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including presentation skillsCommitment to Acceptance’s company valuesAble to lift 0-10 pounds without assistance
