Key Roles and Responsibilities of Position
Oversee the development of advanced technologies to support the corporate initiatives for efficient, low cost, weight optimized Body systems that supports the delivery of design appearance and safety leadership within the industry for Ford China. Develop the technical knowledge base of engineers and provide them with the necessary tools to be both effective and efficient in the development of Body systems. Supervise the design & release of Body components & systems. Lead interface with attribute teams (Craftsmanship, DI, CAE, VOME, Service, NVH, Vehicle Dynamics, Studio) to meet program system & vehicle attribute targets. Oversee to ensure compatibility with other vehicle systems, including electrical systems, chassis & powertrain. Support selection of suppliers, development of program work plans, and completion of gateway deliverables to maintain program timing through GPDS (Global Product Development System) disciplines. Be the champion of TO4 to ensure design delivered on time, at cost and weight target, and following Ford global GPDS process. Lead delivery of TVM (Team Value Management) projects to achieve yearly TVM targets for Body engineering. Set up and revise China module strategy. Cooperate with Global team to deliver Global programs.
Qualifications Required
Demonstrated engineering experience in Exterior and Functional Trim commodity delivery is preferred. Good in communication in Chinese and English, and good team player. Demonstrated customer mindset and ability to assist VFG's in resolving quality/warranty issues and development of design rules from resulting investigations. Strong FMA focus and experience in the application of FMA tools - ability to mentor team members through this process. Ability to successfully bring cross functional team together across different cultures & time zones to ensure repeated delivery of own & shared objectives. Highly proactive - able to demonstrate & inspire a 'can do' attitude. Show strong emotional maturity & resilience. Ability to facilitate and lead reviews of product design, master sections, FMA documentations, DVP's and confirm compliance to relevant legal and corporate requirements. Ability to see the big picture with a strong drive to reach the right outcome for the business. Strong & consistent communicator, able to tailor appropriately. High level of integrity in maintaining work-plans and issue status. Ability to hold oneself and others accountable for delivering against plans and prior commitments. High level of autonomy - able to work with little supervision but knows how to escalate at the right time. TCE and CATIA capability is needed.
