BODY SHOP TECH - LEAD PERSON

POSITION SUMMARY

Performs body repairs on Medium and Heavy-duty trucks of any make or model. Has advanced knowledge of all body repair techniques, components and repair materials. Repairs performed will be or the quality expected; and commensurate of an OEM Dealership repair. Maintains an acceptable level of efficiency for all repairs in accordance with company standards. Works harmoniously with management, co-workers, and customers to ensure that the customer receives a best-in-class repair experience. In all actions works to assist all positions within the dealership and department to sell hours. In all actions works to assist all positions within the dealership and department to sell hours. Supervises technicians may write estimates, answers phones and questions, and help customers in the absence of the foreman.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs at an 90% efficiency on any OE certified repairs on any 3-month average

• Repairs all body component or system to OEM specifications

• Can Prep and apply OEM quality paints and finishes with no assistance

• Can analyze damages and perform advanced body repairs

• Has the technical ability to mentor other technicians.

• Has the competencies to complete tasks in any prior technician classification

• Possesses prior documentation and / or certification as needed in any prior technician classification.

• Communicates with co-workers, management, and customers in a professional and positive manner.

• Presents one’s self with a professional appearance, supports safe working habits, and complies with all company policies.

• Owns all the tooling needed to perform the repairs associated with the job level

• Foster teamwork within the department and with all other departments.

• In the Absence of a Foreman or Manager may be required to:

o  Dispatch Work to technicians, Answer phones and direct the workflow

o Open and / or Process Repair Orders.

o Assists customers in person or via phone

o Write Estimates as permitted and trained

• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

• Reports directly to the Body Shop Forman or designee


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED);

• Three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


REQUIRED SKILLS

 Effective written communication skills that allow for every opportunity to sell hours.

 Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex technical documents.

 Interpersonal skills needed to teach, train and coach new technicians.
