BOM Specialist

As the BOM Specialist, you will manage the creation and modification of production product packages, which include bills of material (BOM), production decals, new part numbers, special drawings, and customer submittal sheets. Under the guidance of the Sustaining Engineering Manager, you will collaborate with teams—purchasing, manufacturing, engineering, and sales—to ensure accurate, consistent, and up-to-date data in the ERP system. Your role also involves maintaining multiple databases, handling engineering changes, and supporting product configurators to drive efficiency and consistency across operations.

You Will:

Create and maintain parts and supplemental data documentation, ensuring correct operations, part nomenclature, and drawing references in the ERP system.

Analyze and update BOM structures, methods of manufacturing (including BOM, BOO, and estimated production standard times), and support drawings.

Coordinate with Purchasing, Manufacturing, and other departments on engineering changes that require time-sensitive or inventory use-up strategies.

Work with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sales to determine lead times for custom-engineered jobs.

Handle changes to products, parts, or processes within the ERP system, and support product configurators.

Prepare and maintain material or labor standard variance reports, addressing issues in production, material control, or variance authorizations.

Manage the Canadian Registration Number process, including drawing documentation and updating the tank database.

Monitor Custom Design Requests from Inside Sales, delegate tasks to the Sustaining team, and serve as the single point of contact for Customer Care and Inside Sales requests.

Provide backup support for other Engineering Administration tasks, such as label making, National Board reporting, MVP processing, or job packet creation

You Have:

High school diploma or equivalent.

4+ years of experience in an industrial manufacturing or engineering environment, particularly with BOM structures and functions.

Experience with MRP/ERP systems and requirements.

Proficiency in personal computer skills and Microsoft Office (including MS Access).

Basic drafting and blueprint reading skills.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

Work in both office and manufacturing environment. May occasionally be required to perform job duties outside the typical office setting.
