Summary :Bone Densitometry Technologist is responsible for measuring patients' bone mass to determine bone health, especially for the purpose of diagnosing osteoporosis and other bone diseases.Job Description:Key Accountabilities
Performs high quality bone density images adhering to the Radiologist’s guidance and protocol
Accountable for providing professional, empathetic, and compassionate care to patients and their loved ones. Tasks include but not limited to: friendly greeting patients and their families, assisting patients with dressing/undressing, transporting/ambulating patients and assisting patients with comfort needs.
Provide professional services such as electronic image transfer, copying images to disc or other media type within Theda Care and to other healthcare facilities. Duties may also include data entry, copying, faxing, and filing.
Professional, courteous phone etiquette and a skilled communicator with excellent people skills as position interact with healthcare professionals and patients on a constant basis.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology to be able to assist offices with imaging requests.
Basic knowledge of healthcare regulations to ensure proper documentation of records and remain compliant with all requirements, regulations, and policies.
Properly document necessary information in the patient Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED preferred
Must be 18 years of age
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.
Basic computer knowledge/skills.
One of the following 3 certifications is required within 6 months of employment:
ARRT - Bone Densitometry Certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
CBDT - Certified Bone Densitometry Technologist from The International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD)
CDT Certified Densitometry Technologist from The International Society For Clinical Densitometry (ISCD).
Physical Demands
Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance
Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties
Work Environment
Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents.
Occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients.
Normally works in climate controlled environment
Frequent sitting with movement throughout department
Use of computers throughout work day
Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrist and fingers
The role: This position is a dual-modality role in x-ray and bone density. The position will support Waupaca and New London Hospital.
Scheduled: Monday-Friday 8am-430pm –approx 2.5 days in Waupaca and approx. 1.5 days in New London. No weekends, call, or holidays
