Your new team

This position sits in our Chivas Brothers business. At Chivas Brothers, our 1,600-strong team across 27 sites is committed to upholding the heritage of Scotch and ensuring its sustainable future, as well as opening it up to new audiences across the globe.

The scope of Operations stretches from Procurement through conversion (distillation and maturation) and manufacturing (or bottling) to all the downstream Supply Chain activities until the final product is delivered.  In addition, Operations play a very active role in Innovation, Talent Development and Operational Risk Management.

Your unique contribution

The Bottling Team Leader is responsible for the execution of the production plan on a daily basis. You will co-ordinate Continuous Improvement activity and manage team performance. This applies not only to machine performance, but also to aspects such as 5S, team meetings, visual management, and problem-solving.

You will also be responsible for the development and engagement of a team of Operators and Multi-Skilled Technicians.

You will have five main areas of responsibility:

Team Leadership – to motivate the team to achieve targets and should recognise good performance, ensuring open communication and resolution of conflict, if required.  You will also be responsible for administration activities such as attendance, overtime payments etc.Planning and Control – to interpret the production plan in terms of specific activities and organise the team members to execute this plan.  You will ensure the availability of equipment, labour, and material as well as monitoring your team’s performance and progress against the plan and taking corrective actions if needed.  You will also be responsible for updating the team's Visual Management (VM) scoreboard and ensure that the team members understand the measures. Driving 5S – the team leader will maintain high standards of 5S by ensuring adherence to 5S standards and coaching team members in 5S principles and practices. This includes participating in management Gemba walks, conducting weekly 5S audits, and developing improvement plans.Problem Solving & Improvements - your role will also be to coach your team members to identify non-conformances and assist them to rectify the problem quickly or to facilitate a problem-solving meeting to do root cause analysis if the problem is more serious.  You will drive Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS) through routine RCPS Investigations, Actions & Weekly Review meetings.  You will drive and manage the execution of Asset Care Allotted Time through co-ordination of User-Driven Maintenance.Meetings – you will conduct face-to-face shift handovers with other team leaders and conduct daily shift meetings.  You will facilitate participation and contributions from team members during these meetings and follow up on action plans and give feedback to the team about management actions. 

Who you’ll be working with

Internally, you will collaborate with the wider Manufacturing team, including Engineering, Supply Chain, Spirit Supply, Dry & Finished Goods, Quality and Health & Safety as well as other functions such as HR and Finance.

Externally, you will collaborate with suppliers and vendors to ensure delivery of services to the highest standard.

Have experience in a similar operational / manufacturing environment (FMGC) with technical skills in manufacturing techniques.Have proven experience in managing teams with the ability to motivate people, promote communication and engage team members to resolve issues and conflict.Have a proactive approach to Health & Safety, taking ownership and responsibility to ensure appropriate controls and actions are taken for self and colleagues.Are experienced in working with LEAN Manufacturing principles and the use of Visual Performance Management tools.Are able to work shifts and Weekends.
