Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Langley Lanes Bowling Center on JBLE-Langley AFB, VA. This is a Regular Full Time position guaranteed 35 hours per week but can be scheduled for up to 40 hours per week. The purpose of this position is to supervise the repair and maintenance of bowling facility equipment and perform repair and maintenance duties as required. Responsibilities Supervises, directs and performs the installation, adjustment, repair, overhaul and regular inspections of bowling facility electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment to include automatic pinsetter, automatic ball returns, speed cradle stops, automatic score and foul units, automatic ball cleaners, hole bores, and lane maintenance machines. Supervises, directs and performs the diagnosis of malfunctioning equipment referring to manuals for diagrams and specifications. Follows manufacturer's maintenance schedules but makes changes as necessary. Supervises, directs and performs the disassembling and replacing or repairing of mechanical and electrical components or parts using soldering irons, wrenches, pilers, screwdrivers, and other hand tools. Supervises, directs and performs the cleaning and lubricating of machines. Supervises, directs and performs measuring and regulating sweep of rakes on automatic pinsetters using hand tools and gauges. Supervises, directs and performs running the automatic pinsetter through complete cycle and inspects for pinsetting accuracy. Supervises, directs and performs conditioning, maintenance and repair of bowling pins and lanes. Supervises, directs and performs repair of cracks, chips, and splinters using wood and plastic lane stock, and sanding and recoating surfaces. Maintains required records and reports on machinery. Determines materials and maintenance required and initiates requests for spare parts, supplies and on-hand equipment to ensure machinery is operational and safe. Performs general housekeeping tasks to ensure proper standards of appearance, cleanliness, and safety of assigned spaces. Performs full range of supervisory duties to include assigning, directing and reviewing work of subordinate employees and evaluating their work performance. Plan, schedule, and coordinate work operations; solve problems related to the work supervised ; determine material, equipment, and facilities needed; explain and gain the support of subordinates for management policies and goals; work to achieve the objectives of programs and policies, e.g., labor management relations and equal employment opportunity; deal with employees and union representatives on employee suggestions, complaints, grievances, and other matters, and performs a wide variety of other technical and administrative duties required in carrying out their responsibilities. Qualifying Experience: Must have previous experience in the maintenance and repair of bowling equipment which provided a thorough knowledge of the mechanical and electrical principles and operating characteristics of bowling equipment and standard test equipment, and the ability to read and understand schematics, wiring diagrams, block diagrams, and manufacturer's service manuals. No supervisory experience is required; however, incumbent must have the ability to develop the qualities of a successful supervisor. Physical Effort: Frequently lifts and carries parts and assembles weighing up to 40 pounds. Occasionally may push or pull larger assemblies weighing up to 100 pounds. Frequent bending, climbing, reaching, stooping, standing, and working in awkward positions. Exposed to high noise levels while working on equipment. Working Conditions: Works inside in areas that usually have adequate light, heat, and fresh air. Exposed to noise, dust, grease, chemical solvents, and possibility of cuts, bruises, abrasions, and electrical shock. Requires caution in working with moving parts during operation of equipment. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
