The Branch Manager develops new client and business opportunities for the Branch while maintaining and building upon current relationships. In addition, the individual will provide technical overview and counsel on project organization, budget, work schedules, and legal and client considerations. They are responsible for Branch and project staffing as well as encouraging and motivating subordinates.Job Responsibilities:Projects a positive image of the Company and colleagues at client negotiations, conferences, technical meetings, and within the officeSigns letters, proposals, and reports bearing professional stamp (if applicable) and assumes responsibility in the name of the CompanySigns Geotechnology’s standard contract terms. Clients’ contract forms and/or modifications of Geotechnology’s standard contract terms must be approved by a corporate officerResponsible for work assigned to the Branch regarding professional liability and contractual obligations. All technical work must be conducted so that the standard of care is metDeals directly with clients and prospective clients in business development, proposals, contracts or agreements, and technical matters Provides guidance, training, and instruction to subordinates in regulatory, technical, and administrative aspects of environmental, geotechnical, or construction materials testing consultingPlans Branch strategy in conjunction with Group Managers to meet Company goalsResponsible for costs of the Branch and adherence to Branch budgets and utilization goals. In conjunction with the Program and Project Manager, is responsible for budget control on projectsResponsible for the profitability of projects assigned to the BranchCounsels and reviews work of project teams; evaluates Project Managers’ and Staff’s performanceSurveys marketplace to identify both new clients and new markets for Company servicesPlans and supervises Staff Development programMotivates subordinates to accept increasing responsibility and develops viable candidates for Project ManagementPrepares performance evaluations for direct staff and reviews performance evaluation data for others in the Branch with assigned supervisors prior and subsequent to evaluation meeting
Qualifications:Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Physical Sciences preferred. Advanced degree is highly desirable.10+ years of experience in applied Engineering or Physical Sciences for which five years are in project management and supervisory responsibilitiesMust have thorough knowledge and experience in either geotechnical engineering or environmental services consulting businessActive membership in professional and civic organizationsPlanning, organizing, and delegating abilityExperience staffing, directing, and coordinating multi-disciplinary professional staffExperience in the effective use of scheduling and cost control techniquesAbility to motivate and train staff and to earn staff respect based on technical and managerial competence and abilitiesExcellent written and oral communication skillsWho We Are: UES provides essential engineering services for some of the most prominent and significant projects in the nation.
