Brand Manager for Consumer Product Goods

POSITION SUMMARY

The Marketing Brand Manager is responsible for P&L management, marketing strategy, marketing planning and execution, new product ideation, consumer research, data analytics, innovation and renovation. Supports development and implementation of commercial planning, consumer communications, new products and portfolio management for the brand. Manages the efforts of direct report(s), marketing staff, consultants and agencies supporting the brand.  Qualified individuals must have the ability - with or without reasonable accommodation to perform the following duties but not limited to:

P&L Management

Acts as general manager for brand P&L, understanding opportunities and risks in line items from topline and bottom line. Requires developing understanding of cross-functional costs. Partners with Finance to ensure accuracy of P&L inputs and run scenarios for existing business as well as new projects impacting brand, innovation launches, renovation changes, customer-specific opportunities. Advocates for improvements to brand P&L while weighing in voice of the consumer.

Marketing Strategy & Communications

Manages insight gathering and analyses to contribute to marketing strategy and plan for the brand that incorporates all aspects of the commercial planning process including competitive and category review, customer situation analyses, consumer trends and financials. Manages consumer marketing programs for the brand portfolio that drive toward team annual KPIs. Manages communications plan execution to deliver on-budget, growth-driving tactics in packaging, promotions, advertising, digital and social engagement. Manages direct reports in consumer, category and business analytics and trends assessments to recommend actions to achieve brand’s annual and long-term sales and profit objectives.

Analytics

Accountable for analyzing multiple sources of data effectively to find opportunities and risks. Includes POS data (e.g. IRI monthly), shipments, consumer research and 3rd party data. Able to turn data into implications and actions for the brand.

Innovation/Renovation

Manages brand’s multiyear innovation pipeline including ideation, concept development, consumer research, technical assessments, financial assessments and project management. Manages innovation and renovation projects from scope development through commercialization. Includes management of new and revised packaging.

Team Leadership & Development

Manages cross-functional team members in brand management activities including commercialization of new/revised products, pricing and customer relations to deliver annual and long-term sales and profit objectives. Supports the marketing team’s cross-functional leadership role to build a high-performance cross-functional environment with sales, manufacturing, operations, purchasing, production planning, distribution, finance and outside agency partners, suppliers and brokers. Manages agencies, consultants and other business partners to ensure support for brand objectives. Demonstrates strong in business acumen including project management, financials, forecasting, building a business case, customer relations and presentation skills. Acts with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promotes the culture and values of the company

Qualifications: 

3+ years related experience in shelf stable food product categories Exceptional verbal, written and organizational skills Merchandising, product and analytical Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Travel: Overnight travel may be necessary when managing large projects or attending conferences, tradeshows or other events of the like
