Join our company and be part of an innovative team that’s First in Food. Location Description Michael Foods, Inc. located in Wakefield, Nebraska is known as the Baseball Capital of Nebraska. Milton G. Waldbaum and Dan Gardner founded our egg-processing business in 1950 here in Wakefield. Our location raises chickens and produces tankers of liquid egg to be consumed by our processing facilities. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: Assist supervisor with training, monitoring, audits, safety, and other personnel management. Learn how to perform other positions within the department. Effectively communicate with personnel in breaking and with other departments to keep production going. Able to identify / trouble shoot when a discrepancy is found. Maintain and complete paperwork daily. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists in training of all processing and production personnel in assigned department. Assists supervisor in updating training for existing personnel whenever equipment changes are instituted or news procedures are implemented Assist with operating and monitoring REF System, for egg flow and processing Communicate with House personal and Farm maintenance at all the time Helps in providing for a safe work environment for all personnel. Also helps ensure that all processing complies with food safety standards as established by Michael Foods, Inc Works with supervisor to help maintain sanitation standards of facility Assigns work tasks to department personnel Become a qualified Production Vatroom Operator Assist with safety audits Maintains effective working relationship between members of department and other areas Continually monitors lines for quality product and notifies all appropriate personnel if discrepancy is found To follow all PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements and safety procedures To follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) “washing hands, etc.” throughout the day To follow all HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) guidelines Monitors processing equipment on a continual basis to maintain proper production standards Reports and fills out work orders on maintenance issues as they relate to productivity, food safety, quality and human safety to maintenance Encourage suggestions from employees which will improve productivity, quality or control cost of production Maintains accurate downtime records and Daily shift report of all equipment in assigned area Complete daily paperwork, SAP (System Applications Product in Data Processing),PEB, Bill of Lading as needed Assure that all paper work being done properly Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety Travel to and work at multiple locations Assist Vat personnel with daily liquid schedule Good communication with Procurement with all needs for the farm’s liquid schedule & tanker schedules. Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED: EDUCATION: One year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, ability to write routine reports and correspondence, ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Free of any breathing or asthmatic conditions, dusty and aromatic conditions prevail. Ability to consistently follow safety and quality rules and procedures Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Must have good communication skills. Self-motivated and a willingness to learn. Must have proper math skills. Must be able to train new employees. Ability to safely lift 30-50 lbs at the farms Must be able to work overtime and weekends (once a month). Also, willing to work an alternate shift. Excessive walks, standing on hard surfaces Must have basic computer skills (excel, word, etc) Ability to analyze problems and find solutions Ability to speak, write and understand English. Ability to assist utility house person with mechanical or electrical issues Ability to obtain forklift operator License. Ability to obtain training in First Aid/CPR, Hot Works, Confined Space, Respiratory and Lock Out Tag Out.
