backed by the latest cutting edge technologyThe Breast Ultrasound Technologist performs screening and diagnostic procedures on patients using ultrasound waves to examine breast tissue provide quality images to the Radiologists for interpretation Responsibilities include but are not limited to the followingDemonstrates competence in performing all breast ultrasound techniques and examinations according to established protocols and minor surgical procedures ie cyst aspirations and biopsies Modifies protocols to optimize each scan to best serve patientrsquos needsDemonstrates skill and knowledge in use of all standard ultrasound equipment and a solid foundation in ultrasound theoryConsistently demonstrates technical proficiency in producing diagnostic breast scans with the ability to recognize anatomical structures that are visualizedProduces high quality breast ultrasonograms positions and transfers patients selects proper technical factors and selects and operates equipment as outlined in the departmental policy and procedure manual refers to manual as necessaryRoutinely prepares examinations for interpretation by the Radiologist to include correct identification adequate clinical history and previous sonograms for comparisonDemonstrates competency to provide preliminary assessment and to provide quantitative analysesProficiently identifies breast pathology on all ultrasound proceduresImplements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control proceduresParticipate in various teaching and mentoring of ultrasound studentsAble to perform imaging on from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography ARDMSOne or more of the followingMedical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for DiagnosticMedical Sonography ARDMSExperienceMinimum of one year competency in diagnostic medical sonography preferredProficient in real time color flow doppler transvaginal biopsies interventional proceduresSpecific levels of
