Breeder Operations Intern

Primary Purpose

To experience Mountaire's culture first-hand and provide additional exposure of Mountaire's family-oriented work environment.  Fulfill all designated duties within each specialized area of operation for the duration of the internship. This program is intended to provide learning opportunities by working hands-on with mentors and completing assigned projects. This project will be to help look at various segments of our operation in relation to pullets and pullet males, data collection and analysis of pullets, males and graded males. Will include leg banding or wing banding birds and collecting data on those birds as they age. The information gathered will help the breeder division answer questions on bird health and performance for our program.

 

Primary Project

Work and meet with breeder team, to discuss needs in our pullet males and pullet females for data collection and analysis.  Spending time learning about the breeder process from pullets and males to studs and spikes as well as the hen house through depletion of the flock.  Presenting findings and project at the end of the summer to the breeder team.

Duties/Activities Required By Job

Complete assigned project identified by department mentor Attend weekly seminar series across different Mountaire facilities                                                         All interns must be available to travel to Delaware during the last week of the program for final presentations (August 5 - 7, 2025) All interns are required to complete a 10 minute presentation on their project at the conclusion of summer. Presentations will take place in Millsboro, DE at the Administrative Building during the week of August 4-8th.  All interns must complete a mid-way evaluation (week 5) along with a final evaluation (week 10)

Education/Experience Required

Must be currently enrolled and pursuing an Associate or Bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university. Valid Driver's license. Must pass the Mountaire Motor Vehicle Record check. Ability to work in a fast paced, visit various locations. (Farms, feedmill, office). Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Word.    Work in a team environment, Self-Motivated and accepting of challenges and detail oriented Outgoing with a positive attitude, willingness to ask questions, learn, and engage with the management and hourly workforce Preference will be giving to students pursuing a animal science, poultry science or agriculture related degree.
