Bridge Engineer

Michael Baker International is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Bridge Engineer for our New England Bridge Team! In this role, you'll tackle complex bridge projects and develop innovative and practical solutions for MassDOT, MBTA, and other New England transportation clients. This position offers a dynamic schedule with a mix of on-site field work and office/work-from-home. Under the guidance of Engineers, Technical Managers, and Project Managers, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects.
What You’ll Do:
Bridge Structural Analysis: Assist with the structural analysis of bridges and other structures Inspection Assistant Team Leader: Assist inspection Team Leaders and lead Team Members during field inspections to determine the structural condition of bridges and other structures Inspection and Rating Reports: Write technical inspection and bridge rating reports and review the work of junior staff CAD Drawings: Assist with the preparation of CAD drawings needed for bridge and highway projects Manage Schedules and Budgets: Assist Project Managers with meeting project deliverables and budgets Support Quality Deliverables: Review and assist in assuring quality calculations, inspections, and reports for our clients Project and Client Coordination: Assist with preparations for project and client coordination and meetings Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong connections with employees, clients, and other collaborators to achieve remarkable results Assist with other design and analysis tasks, reports, and other supporting documentation associated with various bridge projects, and other duties as assignedWhat You Need to Succeed:
BS Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited university; Master’s Degree is a plus 2 - 5 years of relevant experience EIT certification required, or the ability to obtain within 6 months Familiarity with various software packages such as AutoCAD, Microstation, MathCAD, Microsoft Office, AASHTOWare BrR/BrD, MIDAS, and LARSA Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and other contract documents Ability to efficiently work independently within a multi-disciplinary team and prioritize project assignments to meet deadlines Must demonstrate a personal commitment to quality, accuracy, safety, and efficiency Excellent verbal and written English language skills are essential to the long-term success in this role Prior experience with completing load ratings and as an inspection Team Member or Assistant Team Leader Able to work in challenging environments, including working from heights, in enclosed environments, and working around traffic Safety conscious and responsible for personal safety and the safety of fellow team members Ability to use hand tools, ladders, tape-measures, and other equipment necessary for the proper evaluation of bridges Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a DOT Medical Certificate for the purpose of driving and operating bucket trucks and company vehiclesPreferred Qualifications:
PE License Certification in the 2-week FHWA/NHI bridge inspection class Excel Visual Basic and knowledge of macro programmingCompensation:
The approximate compensation range for this position is $90,114 to $118,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
