Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 1-year related manufacturing experience. Experience with conducting general maintenance on equipment or experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, or electrical systems. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and blueprints. Experience using a computer to enter and track data. Exhibit a strong work ethic that includes a good attendance record. Ability to write routine reports and correspondences. Ability to work a flexible work schedule to include holidays, weekends, and overtime. Ability to work in high, precarious places and small or confined spaces. Physical Demands: The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and climb or balance. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50lbs. Summary: Howmet Structure Systems has an immediate opening for a Briquetter Utility Operator located at our Canton Ingot facility. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining blend systems used to prepare material for use in high productivity melting furnaces.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities; it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities of a briquetter operator.
Load and unload material and product by use of conveyor systems and hoppers. Inspect the condition of the product through daily scale standardizations to ensure quality. Interpret and control hydraulic press conditions to ensure the product is consistent with customer specifications and meets all quality standards. Operate hydraulic presses and equipment such as tow motors and hoists. Conduct preventive and general maintenance on hydraulic press system, hoppers, scales, conveyors and mixers. Troubleshoot equipment and system abnormalities and perform required maintenance to fix the issues. Adhere to all standard operating procedures and ensure compliance with all safety and quality processes. Perform daily cleaning and 5’s responsibilities.
