At Compass, the Broker in Charge (BIC) is a licensed real estate broker designated to directly oversee and manage real estate operations at a branch office or primary place of business. The BIC ensures compliance with real estate regulations, provides leadership and guidance to agents, and acts as a key resource for contract oversight, risk management, and operational excellence. This role is instrumental in maintaining Compass culture, fostering agent development, and ensuring the highest standards of professionalism and client satisfaction.
Please note: this role is 100% in-office based in both our Kilauea and Koloa offices in Kauai, Hawaii.
Responsibilities
Contract Review and Approval
Review and approve all real estate contracts generated by agents to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal requirements. Serve as the primary point of contact for contract-related questions and concerns from agents and clients.Agent Supervision and Support
Provide guidance and support to agents, including training on contract procedures and resolving complex transaction issues. Assist agents with client concerns, offering strategic advice and practical solutions. Conduct regular training sessions on new regulations, best practices, and market updates.Compliance and Risk Management
Monitor all transactions to ensure adherence to local, state, and federal real estate laws. Identify potential risks and proactively implement strategies to mitigate legal liabilities.Operational Oversight
Oversee transaction management, including contract execution, escrow processes, and closing procedures. Maintain accurate documentation and records of all real estate transactions, including contracts, disclosures, and supporting materials.Agent Development and Culture Building
Foster a positive work environment to enhance agent satisfaction, retention, and overall productivity. Promote professional growth by providing agents with business planning, feedback, and goal-setting guidance. Act as a culture carrier, inspiring agents to embody company values and a commitment to excellence.Company Strategy and Leadership
Collaborate with local and regional leadership to implement sales and operational initiatives aligned with company vision and goals. Share market intelligence and insights with the executive team to inform broader strategy. Drive the adoption of Compass technology, programs, and services among the agent population.Who You Are
A licensed real estate broker with extensive knowledge of local real estate contracts, laws, and regulations. A proven leader with exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, capable of resolving disputes and maintaining confidentiality. Energetic, forward-thinking, and solutions-oriented with high ethical standards and a professional demeanor. Technologically savvy, with the ability to leverage tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness. A strategic planner with analytical abilities and a hands-on approach to problem-solving and team leadership.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Valid broker’s license in the applicable state(s). Minimum of 5+ years of real estate sales or management experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. Comprehensive understanding of compliance, risk management, and transaction oversight in real estate. A track record of fostering agent growth and maintaining a high-performance culture.The Broker in Charge role is essential in ensuring operational success and maintaining Compass’s reputation for excellence in the real estate industry.
Compensation:
The salary pay range for this position is $101,200 to $151,700; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonuses and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of benefits. Base pay is based on market location. Minimum wage for the position will always be met.
