We are looking for a Brussels Bureau Chief to lead coverage of the European Union at a critical moment. How the EU navigates proposed tariffs from the U.S., economic disputes with China, and efforts to end war in Ukraine will shape the way you lead our bureau and coverage of the world's third-biggest economy. Few things happen in Europe without first going through Brussels, which means the ideal candidate will change directions with ease and energy from one topic to the next, and in a timely fashion. You will lead an office of a dozen reporters and editors covering the decisions of a market that stretches from the Arctic to the shores of the Middle East, and trades more than $6 trillion in goods and services each year. We want a proven news breaker to direct our team in Brussels and connect up coverage across bureaus in the 27-member bloc. You are a great teammate who works closely with colleagues and has strong ambassadorial skills that will raise our profile. You'll also have direct responsibility for our daily Brussels Edition newsletter, making sure subscribers are always on top of EU news. **We'll trust you to:** + Be a leader to steer the bureau through unfolding trade disputes + Be a skilled diplomat able to work with several teams and managers + Be a natural ambassador for Bloomberg to EU institutions, NATO and thousands of lobbyists, consultancies and companies whose government affairs executives are working inside the EU bubble + Be Passionate about policy and regulation + Write and edit clear and comprehensive stories + Regularly break news and produce high-quality enterprise pieces + Work effectively across multiple teams, platforms and stakeholders **You'll need to have:** + Experience working in business journalism, preferably with a focus on covering finance, global business, markets or economics + Demonstrated ability to build sources and produce scoops, this-just-in news and enterprise + Proven leadership skills + Ability to delve into unfamiliar topics and produce fast, clear and thoughtful copy + Experience working as part of a broader newsroom and an all-hands-on-deck spirit + Fluency in English French and/or German Life at Bloomberg is many things, but it’s never dull.
