*The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Disability Employment and Transitions Division.* The Disability Employment and Transitions Division (DETD) promotes the employment, independence, and transitions of Montanans with disabilities. The Budget Analyst position has broad fiscal responsibility for the Division and the programs that fall within the Division. Responsibilities include analyzing monthly budget and financial reports for the assigned programs to maintain expenditure controls, providing advice and technical assistance with cost analysis, financial allocation, and budget preparation and monitoring bureau and program budgets and advising the Administrator, Bureau Chiefs, and appropriate program managers on all fiscal matters. This position is a member of the Vocational Rehabilitation and Blind Services Leadership Team and provides back-up support to the other budget analyst within the Division. In addition, DPHHS is the largest state agency with a wide range of advancement opportunities whether you are joining the workforce or have several years of experience. *Qualifications for this Career Opportunity*** * * * Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles, statistics, budgeting and analytical techniques, forecasting, and cost projection principles. * Attention to detail, good judgement, and critical thinking skills. * Ability to analyze detailed federal statutes, regulations, and policy directives that impact the Division funding scheme. * Ability to acquire the knowledge and awareness of the political environment, interests, alignment, approaches, and consequences of actions with each stakeholder. * Excellent organization and time management skills. * Meet minimum qualifications: o Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Math, Accounting, Finance or closely related field. o Three years of job-related work experience years of progressively responsible experience in budgeting, accounting, or financial management. o Advanced level experience in Microsoft Excel is required preferred. o Experience with state and federal budgeting processes and protocols and SABHRS is preferred. o Certified Public Accounting (CPA) and bachelor’s degree in accounting is preferred. o Other combinations of related education and experience may be considered as an alternative method of obtaining necessary qualifications.
