Job Title: Building and Grounds Technician
Division: Weir ESCO
Location: Newton, MS
Onsite / 1st Shift


Purpose of Role: This position tasks will include the prevention, improvements, or repair to general equipment in and/or around the facilities.  Responsibilities will include basic welding and small fabrication jobs, plumbing repairs (including facility equipment, septic systems, water lines), oil/water systems and collection areas, office related improvements and repairs, roadway repairs, performing basic safety equipment inspections for lifting devices, and assist on electrical and other non-primary jobs as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Capable of metal fabrication work such as guards, handrails, hanging stands, basic step platforms, etc.

Perform plumbing repairs in response to reported issues, diagnosing symptoms, and replacing defective parts as necessary. Re-instate systems that have been disconnected.

Perform preventive maintenance on equipment. (pumps, motors, baghouses and auger systems, etc.)

Complete and maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities and inspections that are performed through the work order system.

Assemble and/or repair office equipment (desk, cabinets, etc.), along with other needed items in office settings as required.

Participate in periodic meetings with Maintenance groups, SHE (Safety, Health, and Environmental), management staff, and operations to provide updates, request(s), and/or repair plans on equipment conditions and projects as necessary.

Assisting with other employees on assigned responsibilities as required.


Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:

Must be proficient at cutting with a torch and stick welding.

Must be able to use tools ranging from hand tools to power tools.

Troubleshooting ability and knowledge on plumbing systems and repair of such systems.

Exercise sound judgment and problem solving skills.

Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for candidates that have the ability to perform the objectives above.

Working knowledge of septic lines / systems, and repair basic failures of such systems.

How to replace/repair a toilet and urinal.

Knowledge on measurement tools and setting equipment to level.

Ability to read, understand, and utilize technical manuals to troubleshoot and repair equipment.

Creation and execution of thorough and comprehensive inspection forms to be used for routine maintenance.  Data accuracy and data records

Ability and commitment to develop a working understanding and execution of regulatory requirements for daily task that are given.

Compensation: $18.30 - $24.64
