Overview The Building Automation System (BAS) Technician operates and maintains the BAS and Power Monitoring System (PMS) in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and in accordance with the installation and operating parameters for a large facility U.S. Government Operations and Maintenance program located in Iraq. The BAS Technician shall be qualified and certified in Siemens or Honeywell BAS systems . The duties and responsibilities listed are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive. Responsibilities MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES: Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring safety is the highest priority in the workplace. Comply with all Environmental & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of BAS and PMS. Acts as the Contractor’s representative ensuring that all BAS and PMS task order requirements are met. Responsible for allocating and managing staff resources according to changing needs Identify problem areas and respond to mission requirements to perform task order requirements. Plan and manage projects. Control resources; monitor staff proficiency and qualifications; monitor the locations and activities of assets; and coordinate the flow of information to and from O&M staff and USG representatives. Resolve all BAS and PMS related issues. MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED: Computer skills include a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Requires working knowledge of maintenance and testing of digital and analog equipment as well as knowledge and skill in computer systems. Mechanic's hand tools, shop tools, multi-meter, gauges and hydraulic man-lifts. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: This contract is performed in a contingency operations environment, in a harsh climate, and often hazardous situations. While performing the duties of this contract, the employee will regularly be exposed to an extreme and austere desert environment. Temperatures can reach 120 – 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50 – 55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Employees must be willing and able to perform job requirements in this environment, as well as deploying to Iraq for extended periods. Work schedules are typically six (6) days per week and ten (10) hours per day. Employees may be performing physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors. All employees must be able to move quickly to cover during security alarms. This includes being able to lift, carry and/or wear forty (40) pounds of personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time and being capable of running during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk. All staff must maintain physical and dental requirements for duration of deployment. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED Education/Certifications: Technical School Degree or Journeyman’s License in Direct Digital Control Systems. Licenses and Certifications: Technical School Degree or Journeyman’s License in Direct Digital Control Systems. Valid driver’s license from home of record. Security Vetting: Already possess a U.S. Government (USG) issued Top Secret security clearance or be able obtain a favorable USG Top Secret clearance prior to being hired is required for the position. Must maintain eligibility at the required clearance level for the duration of the task order. Language Skills: Satisfactory English proficiency to meet job requirements. Citizenship: U.S. citizenship is required. Experience: Five (5) years’ experience in the operation and maintenance of building automation systems, including the computer and microprocessor controlled components that make up the systems. Two (2) years of which must have been spent working in direct maintenance with Siemens or Honeywell BAS systems and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience of which must have been in a large, modern commercial or USG facility, domestic or overseas. Skills: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated working knowledge of BAS and PMS operations and maintenance for a comparable facility. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage staff. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires handling multiple tasks at a given time and rapidly adapting to changing priorities and schedules. Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects. Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective Excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving and time management skills. Expert computer skills, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team.. Ability to be innovative and be an agent for change. Good verbal and written communication skills to direct employees, prepare reports for upper management and facilitate/disseminate information. Highly Desired: Previous international experience (2 years or more) Work experience in harsh environmental and political conditions (2 years or more) Work in a developing country with limited infrastructure (2 years or more) SUPERVISORY/BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will be available to respond on-call twenty-four hours a day and seven days per week.
